@tcql I run an instance for 3 users on a $5/month Digital Ocean droplet with just 1GB of RAM. Add in 1GB of virtual memory and Mastodon runs with no problems.

I help with a good number of users running Windows 10, and none of them seem to be having these "slowdown" problems anymore. Windows 10 seems to actually be pretty good and not letting too much bloatware run on it.

Finally deleted my Instagram account, after letting it lie dormant for half a year. Facebook makes it _really_ hard to delete an Instagram account (their last site that's actually gaining users, I'm sure):

1) You can't delete it from the app
2) There's no UI or link to delete it through the web interface
3) You have to Google "how do I delete an Instagram account", that leads you to a page using an _old_ UI that looks like it's out of the iOS 2.0 web app days: https://instagram.com/accounts/remove/request/permanent/

Literally had a meeting yesterday at $WORK, where I was asked if I was willing to "put in extra hours" towards something. I said, "Yes. Just pay me for it. Otherwise, no."

@fraggle @baldur Same experience I had about two years ago when I got rid of my "big company" social media accounts.

Honestly, it kinda ticked me off a bit. Twitter/Facebook seems to have an outsized importance in our lives (and in the news) when we use it, and then when you delete your accounts, you realize just how little you miss it. :/

It's all just unnecessary stress and noise.

Beginning signs of a minor cold: minor aches and pains, a slight cough, mild headache.

If you have any of these symptoms, or even think that you might have them, I'm sure everyone would understand if you didn't go.
