@srol Ha! I started noticing them upon visiting Instagram.com, after blocking all FB domains on my home network. It's weird that somehow the "AI identification" stuff is on IG, but all the content is actually on FB.
@Cryoclaire I would gladly trade proficiency with one programming language of your choice for even just 70% of your skill at making comics. Just let me know which one you want.
With the spat of ransomware attacks going on, I thought it was a good time to finally finish that "dropbox"-style backup system for my home server (where backups can be written to it, but not modified or deleted after that point). Works great now.
"WHY are we still talking about whether or not the Earth is flat, and that it's possible to sail off the end of it??!? Come on people, Eratosthenes proved HUNDREDS of years ago that the Earth is round! Educate yourself."
@vector@ajroach42@TheGibson Have you met IT folks? ;) Not a lot of union fans among them. Just the opposite. They all think they're king shit of turd mountain, and don't need anyone's help, ever.
@sungo@TheGibson A lot of other MSPs did the same thing -- I work for one.
All managers must've read the same book about two years ago that told them the same thing: "Remote working is bad! How can you bully your employees if you can't see them in person???"
@mood Understood. "Federation" with mastodon servers is a "blacklist" model, though, and not a "whitelist" model.
What that means is that the "list of instances one federates with" is essentially "everything", unless an instance is on a block list, either at the server level or on a personal level.
Personally, I would _love_ public lists of what each instance is blocking. Would be a great way to map "who doesn't like who" in the fediverse.
