@nolan The website can just be static. Is there anything you'd recommend to just make a quick static site? I know my way around html, javascript, of course, but I'm just wanting some sort of nice theme or something so that it doesn't look like, well, butt.

@nolan I find this fascinating -- I'm needing to make a simple "dashboard" website based upon files that are provided elsewhere, and since the website itself doesn't need any input, I've decided the big, unwieldily mess I was trying to get to work in angular is completely unnecessary. :P

@noelle @staticsafe Thanks -- I was wondering if it was possible to run a masto server on DH, but I don't get root access at the level I'm paying there, and haven't tried yet.

@Ludonaut @theoutrider Oh yeah -- for months now, on a new installation of Ubuntu 18.04, I've been uninstalling the snap versions of apps and installing the older (GTK?) versions, whenever I find them.

I mean "older" as in "packaging" only -- the release version of the app in question is usually the same.

@ben @Fidgetcetera And you don't even really need port 80. Can do it all with just port 443.

Depending upon the number of users one is dealing with, running a masto server at home is very, very doable.

@Ludonaut @theoutrider I'm almost sure snap packages try to update every time you launch them.

It's the only reason I can think of as to why they take 5 min to load on a new computer. :\

@jakobpunkt You know, in my youth, I would've pooh-poohed this idea, but I think you're onto something. I watch GoT with a few friends, and lately they've all been kinda mentioning that the gore and grisly deaths have become a bit much. There's one at the end of SE8EP1 that even I was like, "whoa; Jesus guys, did we need to see _that_?"

I think the era of the "PG" TV-edit are behind us, though.
