Blake C. Stacey (bstacey@icosahedron.website)'s status on Friday, 27-Dec-2019 16:01:32 EST Blake C. Stacey "Never sleep if you want to win" bros are to me like incels --- particularly disturbing, because I find them reflections of myself in a particularly toxic mirror.
I, personally, work a little most every day, because that happens to fit my style. My job is astoundingly flexible (research position, so no teaching; theory, so not tied to a lab spatially or temporally). And there's basically a continuum of activity between "serious work" and faffing off. I can read old physics papers or brush up on math that's tangential to my research project, and it's pretty much like a paid hobby. I can get totally high on that legal Massachusetts weed and scribble down ideas for new things to investigate, and sometimes in the morning they still make sense. Watching a math video to see if I can recommend it to a prof colleague as a teaching aid is only slightly more demanding than kicking back with the BA test kitchen.
Lucky in physics, unlucky in love.

If I can't make at least $300 by 8/8, I might not be able to go home yet. I seriously injured my finger on the way here, and I've been having mental breakdowns every day. My girlfriend and her wife are fighting really hard to make enough money to go up.. if you could help us get to $300 it would mean the world to me 💜

Though I suspect the M.O. of your typical racist/sexist/anti-queer pseudo-intellectual is to aim for the credentialing status of journal publication, so they run and submit to crap journals.

I should download a big set of medical preprints and a big set of peer-reviewed medical journal articles and test for differences in citations of Jordy P

CTVT is one of the strangest organisms on the planet--a dog tumor that turned into a contagious global parasite which has spread between dogs for around 6000 years. Not quite a dog, not quite a cancer: Everything about it is deeply weird.

Blake C. Stacey (bstacey@icosahedron.website)'s status on Friday, 02-Aug-2019 13:39:49 EDT Blake C. Stacey @xkcd I thought of one! SLC Punk 2. I liked it; it has a 39% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It's what TV Tropes would call a Lighter And Softer sequel --- in fact, it feels a bit like a where are they now/next generation fanfic. So if you had never seen the original, you might not get a lot out of it, while if you wanted something *exactly like* the original, you'd go away disappointed. But if you want a movie where the kids are generally better adjusted than their parents, it might hit the spot.
