As well as being adorable, marimo are sometimes said to bring good luck if you take good care of them. They’re technically a type of chlorophyta algae which very rarely grow into little fuzzy green orbs, found in lakes in Iceland, Scotland, Estonia, and Japan.
They’re particularly famous in Japan where they’re considered a national treasure. Lake Akan in Hokkaido has an annual 3 day marimo festival, organised with the indigenous Ainu people.
@oneoddfrog@ScreenTestOfTime Wholeheartedly agreed with Stalker - it's visual poetry. the occasionally dense dialogue can be slightly heavy going, if only because it's providing so much to think about that having full conversations of that gravity becomes a lot to process.
And I must finish SD someday! Started it years back, but maybe needed to sleep that night. ^_^;
@pizzanna It's *so* much fun! It reminds me of MLP:FiM in being so much better than it needed to be, thanks to a showrunner who simply wanted to do the best they could, whilst also managing to /extend/ the show's history.
Hopefully we'll be hearing of its renewal for at least another season!
(If *only* they'd let me *buy* it! I get that's Netflix's business model - streaming only, with a few exceptions, like OitNB - but I'd love to give them money for copies to /keep/)
@InvaderXan That rings true. I had to bail when the Captain (or similar) appeared, and offered the "drowning man" non-apology.
It /began/ fine, but then when he chose to wake her up, and then pretended it was another fault - the telegraphing was so heavy that here she'd be, stuck with someone who basically doomed her, for his gratification, and who's even a stalker into the bargain. And yet nobody but her sees that. O.o
@ScreenTestOfTime@mxsiege As someone with a fursuiting background, likewise - a suit like that is absolutely unfit for the task, and unnecessarily so; any good fursuit maker would be able to come up with something of equal or superior quality, whilst also keeping the performer comfortably cool, through passive or active cooling packs. That rental/design company should have realised their suit's shortcomings and declined.
Ye gods and little fishes.. I'd heard Passengers maybe wasn't as good as it could've been - but I hadn't expected it to embody male entitlement quite so wholeheartedly. EJECT EJECT EJECT
Remembering that time i was boiled alive inside an animatronic rabbit costume and woolen suit running around in the unventilated tunnels under London for four months in excessive heat.
