I'm worried about GNU Social. It doesn't seem to have enough contributors. -

Switching profiles in Firefox should not be so difficult, especially on Windows. By default it disables more than one profile running at once, which is, I think, the most important use-case. -

Thanks! Do we have a clear definition legally of what happens when a person runs a Tor exit node in Ontario, Canada? -

TIL about Freedombox, which is a Debian variant built around hosting social services yourself (GNU Social, XMPP, mail, etc.).

I think the most important purchase I made last year (besides our pup, Maxwell) was my IBM Model M keyboard. It's just a joy to type on. In conversation from kwat.chat permalink -

Honestly once you get bash on Windows it actually becomes a pretty decent OS to develop games on. I still much prefer Linux but VR is still pretty early stages, there. In conversation from kwat.chat permalink -

Flip through some of these pages. This is really tremendous web design, which is something many of us haven't thought about in a long time.

I'm really excited about the Pico VR unit. It's apparently got 6-DOF just like the Vive and will run apps of the Viveport store.

@abacus Freedom is a constant struggle, and the net has never been neutral. But if it becomes significantly less neutral and there is corporate lockdown then moving to P2P and trying to get everything through layer 2 might be the way to go. The more people can control the last mile the better, so community mesh networks wherever possible. In conversation from social.freedombone.net permalink Repeated by rocky1138 -

What about IrDA instead of fibre? There are line-of-sight "cable TV" services, might be able to pull off something cool with a line-of-sight network. In conversation from kwat.chat permalink
