@Antanicus seems cool. But I’m still waiting and hoping for something like this (new Internet) that doesn’t just block advertising/data mining but intentionally supports other form of monetizing and has only 1 gate you pass through like this.
This instance only allows senior toot engineers. If you have at least 10+ years of mastodon experience please apply here (https://banana.dog). We are looking for rockstar ninja rocket scientists and we offer unlimited PTO as well as a fully stocked snack bar (with soylent). We are a lean, agile, remote friendly mastodon startup that pays in the bottom 25% for senior tooters. All new members get equity via an innovative ICO call BananaCoin.
@mayel Thank you for helping breath life into this and keeping it going for so long with @vmatekole. Hopefully this can be another step in formalizing and recognizing the hard work that it takes to maintain something like this along the path to making it sustainable. CC @ntnsndr@mattcropp
@edsu@fardog@gilscottfitzgerald@wu_lee@nornagon@elplatt Yeah its a slog getting anything complicated organized and engaged right now but these and other initiatives being working on are super important if we are to make this little experiment in cooperative social media continue to thrive and become sustainable.
@iona Right now SC doesn't have any mechanism for this kind of thing.
Some members are working on getting an official CoC policy adopted to handle internal conduct but currently doesn't contain a process to handle abuse coming from outside instances.
There is some movement to get the Community Admin Ops team formalized which could help with official representation and policy for redress or instance blocking.
All these efforts need more contributors in the Community WG if you are able.
@kavbojka right now they are volunteer positions with remuneration budgets created on a per project basis. We are working on creating a dedicated team budget but the expectation is that it will limited until the membership grows to sufficient level to support it.
Overall social.coop right now is a experiment with large scale cooperative and democratic governance and run mainly by volunteer contributions (labor) with open democratic governance and no hierarchal leadership.
Friends, we're finally ready for you. Over some months now, I've had the pleasure of supporting co-op entrepreneur Greg Brodsky in the development of a new kind of accelerator just for co-ops.
Start.coop is officially open for applications for the inaugural class. If you know someone who would be interested in applying for $10,000 in cash plus mentorship, they can learn more here: https://start.coop/press-releases/
I think it will be an opportunity to meet and collaborate with other co-op members as well as learn how platform cooperatives work at a very practical level. See you there?
@fardog@christianbundy, thanks for helping with Thursday's outage - any chance you'd sign up for the tech ops team as per the polls on this loomio thread?
@LeoSammallahti@dulcet though the system I’m describing is better suited to art or video or short stories where the hurdle to creation is higher than say a blog post or even news articles.
It may be for that kind of turn and burn content that there is just no way to have a high enough value that people will ever pay for it unless it comes from existing brands.
