@jvalleroy Always enjoyed the idea of using #xmpp, especially the whole pubsub stuff, more widely. Unfortunately, few people actually seem to do so. One more communication channel with too few senders and recipients to justify spending much effort on it. 😟

While I dislike most of what I read in these mails, once again I *fully* agree with *this* point. We can keep on ranting about #SurveillanceCapitalism 'til hell freezes over, and yet this won't until we find more sustainable and ethical models for funding services for ordinary users. #libresaas

Achievement unlocked: Built a puppet configuration all along with all config files for all services to automatically set up a working ElasticStack VM on top of Ubuntu LTS. Easier than I expected, given the problems all along the way were mostly caused by applications not correctly sending log files to the "right" destination... 😐

@Siegfried Im Prinzip ja - aber andererseits: Wir haben Situationen, in denen ein Diskurs zwischen hochqualifizierten Experten passiert, die entweder über Deutung von Fakten oder über methodische Fragen streiten. Für einen fachfremden Politiker gibt es dort, glaube ich, wenig "Fakten" - nur die Chance, der einen oder anderen Partei zu "glauben" (und sich damit für die "andere" angreifbar zu machen für das Argument, "offensichtliche Fakten" zu ignorieren). Das kann eigentlich nur schiefgehen. 😐

@Siegfried Klar, das sehe ich schon. Das stört mich aber genau: Warum werden solche Dinge politisch diskutiert? Warum bekommen wir es nicht hin, dort einen wissenschaftlich sinnvollen Standpunkt zu erarbeiten und Politik dann einzubinden, wenn es an die Frage geht, wie wir die sinnvoll umsetzen wollen? Ansonsten öffnet man, wenn man eigentlich Themen umsetzen möchte, Tür und Tor für solche, die das nach Kräften zu verhindern suchen werden - und dafür sogar plausible Argumente mitbringen... 😐

Spent half of the afternoon wrestling with #logback and the logging in #dropwizard. Hard to believe that Java logging is still completely broken, even in 2018. :|

@inthedarkwelive Was ja auch nicht zwingend schlimm sein muss. Wir haben die zwei Dimensionen "Schadstoff-Ausstoß" und "fossile Brennstoffe", die wir optimieren wollen. So lang wir das mit Optimierungen an den Prozessen im Verbrennungsmotor hinbekommen - gern. Wenn nicht, brauchen wir eben eine Folgetechnologie. 😉

TIL: Reisen mit @DB_Bahn@twitter.com ist weit mehr Abenteuer, als man in 2018 möchte. 😑
