@lauraritchie Yes, I want it to be a growing resource.
But I also want it to be an event, so people feel they're participating, not just consuming.

@jennymac @x28de @lauraritchie @GeoffreyGevalt OK, I've changed it from 'About the Instructor' to 'About Me'. :)
@jennymac @x28de @lauraritchie @GeoffreyGevalt I added a 'why me' section at the end of my intro article.
@lauraritchie @jennymac @x28de @GeoffreyGevalt Awesome - it's so helpful when someone does that, because people think they're the only ones who don't know, and are afraid to ask, when in fact most people don't know.
@lauraritchie @jennymac @x28de @GeoffreyGevalt Oh I fully expect my cat Alex to make an appearance in the videos. I'll leave it up to him tho - you can't force a cat to do anything. (We also have two other cats but there is no chance that they would ever jump up while I'm doing a video).
@jennymac @x28de @lauraritchie @GeoffreyGevalt
OK, I've written a short introduction capturing the comments all of you have made. Before I post it generally, could you have a look and tell me what I'm missing?

@Lou Well that's pretty good. Portraits are really hard (give me a landscape or architectural drawing to do any day).
@grainloom This is a test to look for the 'alt text' option - I found it but it is *very* difficult to find (default desktop Mastodon client). You have to hover over the image after it uploads, and the field is hidden by the grey shading at the bottom of the image. Better UI would go a long way toward addressing this. #ItsNotAlwaysTheUsersFault
@lauraritchie Oh, I will. :)
@lauraritchie 2000 km. Thta's been my goal every year for the last five or six years. Made it once. Made 1600 last year.
@lauraritchie Well I carry spare tubes but they don't seem to prevent flat tires...
St. Elmo's Friar. https://flic.kr/p/2anncay August 25, 2018. 25x50 Day 20. Cycled to Maxville and back via St. Elmo and Moose Creek. It was a hard ride because of the wind and, yes, I broke another spoke. It has been that kind of season. It's always worth visiting Maxville, though. 61.6 km. More than 1700 km for the year so far.
Epistemology in the Cloud #oldaily https://www.downes.ca/post/68515 This is quite a good paper, and to put it into perspective, when I say "fake news is a consensus problem," this is to a large degree what I mean. This paper is deep conceptually and will take some time. The first two sections take us through a tour of Lewis's and Nozick's work on counterfactuals from the 80s (I was steeped in this during my PhD work, and even had a sit-down and grilling with Lewis on his work).
@dogtrax This is a good one.
@x28de ... or creating my own cycling vacation network.

@lauraritchie What's a #cyber people?
Please consider this: you have choices all day long about how you treat people. Every interaction can be kind, or it can be cruel, and the choice you make will have an effect on people you’ll never meet. Make a choice that you’ll feel good about.
