We don't have a home phone - just mobile phones (we usually didn't answer the home phone because just like you we've always viewed it as a request). I sometimes answer my mobile phone but usually not.

No watch for me either. I have my own sense of time that works well enough.

He's had a lot of experience on the public speaking circuit and there's no doubt his tips hit the mark. In the 1980s in university I attended a talk by Michael Collins, the astronaut who stayed aloft while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the Moon. The talk was not about space, but about religion (and why I should join). I wrote an angry column about the deception. The next day I received a big bouquet of daffodils from someone signed "victim of the Scopes Monkey Trial". To this day I associate daffodils, and the annual cancer drive, with space and religion and deception. #smallstories

For the first time in a very long time, I have no travel plans. One thing tentatively booked for Toronto in October, but that's it. The world is officially tired of me. :)

@dajbelshaw @lauraritchie Engagement is good. But we need more than pithy one-liners.

When I write OLDaily, if I think something is good I try to amplify it or apply it. If I think it's bad, I try to say why I think it's bad. With whatever, I try to relate it (to connect it) to my life, work, creativity - or that of someone else.

Reasoning, not snark.

But don't blame social media. Look around, look at each other, look at who we follow and retweet, look at whether we engage critically or not.
