Comment in reply to an email pointing me to yet another issues blog:
My preference is less for arguing and more for building. I like to see what people are doing, rather than why they disagree with each other. Anyone who addresses the issues we all face in a positive and constructive manner is of interest to me. It's not about winning arguments (or wars). It's about rebuilding and creating something new and worthwhile.
In this presentation I explore the application of open education and open educational resources (OER) to peace, reconciliation and development in Colombia. I describe how new technologies have made possible new ways of learning, and how we can work together as a community to teach ourselves, thus allowing each person the voice and opportunity to play a meaningful role in society.
@lauraritchie Awesome. Though note that my post steps very lightly through critical thinking - it's designed to inform readers what it is, not to actually teach it. But if that's your intent, then the post would be (if I may say so) perfect.
@lauraritchie our cats are ibdoor cats and the local birds are safe. The downside of indoor cats is the litter box. But they live much longer and are healthier.
@andrawatkins (Interestingly the invitation was based not on my work in e-learning, but on my logical fallacies website, which I had created and made available for free back in 1995. So I'm so glad I shared my guide to the logical fallacies too! There's still available: http://www.fallacies.ca )
While working in Alberta in 2001 I got an invitation out of the blue to work on a fellowship for three months at the University of Melbourne. It was a big risk because I didn't know the people inviting me and had no international experience at all. I would also earn a lot less for that time. But I took it because I wanted the experience.
This was key experience to landing my NRC job and led to many more international opportunities. #smallstories
