Oh, it's super-easy. Open up a new presentation. On the Ribbon, click 'Design'. On the right hand side of the ribbon you'll see 'Slide Size'. Click that. Select 'Custom' and make your slide 3 feet wide (or whatever). Now you're working on a poster-sized slide.

@lauraritchie i very gently brushed it out the window. It is now living elsewhere in the garage.

I like spiders. They are natural insect control. They don't ever bother me and if it weren't for their webs I would never even know that they were there.

We're getting a new roof put on the house. I woke up to loud hammering overhead at 7 a.m. I'm not complaining, though.

This greeted me when I got into the car to drive into the office Monday.... ah, life in the country.

Target this year is again 2000 km, as it is every year. I've reached this target twice, including 2131 last year (my personal record).

I think this an interesting idea but I have some reservations.

It's tempting when you find a good group to get the group to go away and enjoy being the group without any distractions.

But my response is always: what's wrong with here? What's wrong with the conditions that allowed us to form and flourish in the first place?

@dogtrax this is actually a really good poem.

So my manager is being stupid about conference funding (ie I get none). I should just get over it, but my brain being what it is, I can't let it go, and I cycle through rage arguments in my mind. I end up feeling betrayed and unsupported and I don't want to have anything to do with the people I work with. I have never been able to deal with rejection; the fear used to paralyze me, and I avoided everything. These days I push past the fear but rejection still really hurts hard.

Today I took my first ride on my new gravel bike and it performed well, though the gears still need adjusting. I took it over some gravel I could never have ridden over with the road bike - all the way down to the forest at the end of the road, the only place around here where the trilliums grow. Here's one. Getting used to the gravel bike and practicing some off-roading is all part of what I am calling 'Project Anticosti', a two-year effort to do something challenging (more later).
