    @lyrium for Sidekiq there is, if you go to Preferences->Administration and the value under 'backlogged jobs' is at zero most of the time, you are not close to hitting the Sidekiq limit.

    For Web, if at peak hours you refresh your browser and notice a slower reload, then you are close to limit.

    I know this is not very scientific but it really depends on the users usage and what is happening in the fediverse.

    @lyrium I think so too. I added a small explanation already in the bottom of the page under About the Plans but that will not give you a lot of extra information and even the blog post will not give you a number you can grab and compare.
    Still, the base plan will be a bit less what you are using now, currently you have a 10 Sidekiq and a 2x5 Web. The base values are a smaller 8 Sidekiq and 2x4 Web but you don't have the user limit, it's something you have to think.

    @urso sure, no problem and even from the new one to the old one, since your subscription started before this change was announced.

    I have launched new plans and pricing for Masto.host

    Nothing will change for current subscribers, active subscriptions will continue with the same price and conditions.

    Until December 30 the old plans will still be active for new subscribers.

    You can read about it here: https://masto.host/new-masto-host-plans/

    Any questions, please let me know.

    @Rheall I know that a large percentage of the payments I receive via PayPal are from North America and I never got any reports of that being a problem. Still, I don't track locations of access or anything really :) but that shouldn't be an issue.
    Plus, if want the fastest you can get, I offer dedicated plans where you can locate the server/VPS in Canada, OVH has a datacenter there.

    @esparta that’s great, thanks. so if we ignore Tor, is the same situation, the issue is with HTTPS Everywhere, right?

    @james everything happens via https, so don’t believe that is the reason maybe some incompatibility with Mastodon, serious doubts that it’s on my end. If you could test on another Mastodon instance to see if the same happens that would clear it @esparta

    @inditoot That is currently the expected behaviour for Mastodon.

    As to why, I can imagine the complexity of keeping that information in sync across all servers but you would have to ask the development team for a definitive answer.

    If you want to see the full up to date information of a user, you need to go to the actual profile page on their instance. Eg: in my case you need to go here: https://mastodon.social/@mastohost

    @socialskeleton
    Your instance is currently processing 30 posts a minute the limit for your the low volume plan you chosen is 5 posts a minute, read: https://masto.host/pricing/ under "What is low volume and high volume?"
    So, you are way over your plan.

    @thraeryn I understand the pain. I really still have no way to allow someone to edit the custom.scss on shared hosting plans. On dedicated, no problem but on shared it is still not possible and I don't even think that I will be able to do it any time soon :| Sorry.

    Probably you can try and find an instance that already has a Custom CSS in place and ask them the code they are using to adapt to your needs. That is the only option that I can think, besides doing element inspection or source code.

    • The Embodiment of RED

    @thraeryn Well, you are pasting SCSS in a field that expect CSS. There is no variables in CSS, just Classes, IDs and DOM.

    So, you need to inspect the elements you want to change and called them by class/id.

    Eg: you want to change the color of the background of the app to pink :) you can do this:

    .ui{background:pink;}

    That's all. This in one way is even better than the custom.scss because that requires recompilation of all assets and a restart of the instance to see the changes.

    @thraeryn Well, since the Custom CSS was introduced directly on the Administration interface, I stopped looking into it because it solved the needs of most admins.

    Have you given that a try? Is there any specific thing you need that it is not solved via Custom CSS?

    Damn, I should go for the 5 nines uptime :)

    But that will not be possible because doing upgrades on live databases is in my experience a recipe for disaster. So, there is always downtime during upgrades.

    Still, pretty cool and thanks for sharing and the support.

    Fingers crossed that one of these days I (or OVH) don't mess those numbers :)
