So #Mastodon has announced they are in the process of removing #OStatus support their codebase. Hopefully this will light a fire under the collective arse of whoever is managing the #GNUsocial project, and the dozen or so #fediverse instances still running it, and get #ActivityPub support finished and merged.

I'm proposing a new version of a metadata document specification for servers in the #federated #web. This aims to collect the good and avoid the bad of the previous iterations, and to be flexible enough for a large part of the federated web to implement it.

The outer circle is, as far as I can see, mainly non federating instances, dead ones, …

The power of big media comes down to their control over attention. Basically, it's all really an algorithm. Newspapers, broadcast, cable, social media silos, even streaming services...other people want to control what comes next. The more that people move to the #fediverse and the more that we use the #fediverse in place of their algorithms, the more freedom we have. I want it everywhere yesterday.

@nurinoas that last one I think is key, because adoption is strongly shaped by #NetworkEffect Imagine if users of every #Jabber app, every #Matrix app, every standalone chat app like #Wire or #Signal, could chat with Jami users! Even #fediverse apps for that matter!
