Trying the "Dark Reader" extension for #firefox, and is working amazing.
The only frustrating thing is the flash of white on new tab loads before the content actually loads in. I've tried a few different hacks around it using userContent.css rules, but none fix it.
– no ETA for Project Fission – Currently, Firefox comes with one process for the browser's user interface, and a few processes for the Firefox code that renders the websites
#Mozilla, please don't do this. We don't want this. It might not be an "ad" but it makes you look bad nonetheless. Especially now given that #Firefox is the only non-Chromium browser out there, you need not alienate your user base.
@alpacaherder My main laptop (6GiB RAM) goes OOM if #Chromium is the only thing open and I have more than about 5 JS-heavy tabs open. On the other hand, I can have a combined total of 150 tabs in 4 windows with #Firefox and #Palemoon and it will run for day without issue.
Though I have no problem using #PixelFed on mobile via #Firefox as a Web app, the conversion of other people to the platform from a "wtf is federation" point will be easier with it.
I can see mastodon.art actually leveraging a #PixelFed server to help people curate their art and use #Mastodon to link longer-form text.
With the removal of #RSS features from #firefox, I was left very disappointed. How can #mozilla backslide on the essential bits of the open web by removing support.
However, @kensanata has, yet again, saved the day by making a lovely bookmark that finds the RSS feeds for pages!
Here is a little holiday present from Alex, passed on by me. Thank you, good Sir!!
Download Facebook Container for #Firefox. Prevent #Facebook from #tracking you around the web. The Facebook Container extension for Firefox helps you take control and isolate your web activity from Facebook.
Can anyone recommend either Vim Vixen or Tridactyl Firefox plugins? I used to use Pentadactyl all the time until it went kaput with Firefox Quantum. Hankering to get back to Vim bindings in the browser and both of these extensions look pretty well maintained.
This morning i got the update to #firefox 65 beta and i also did a profile reset. Not sure if it's a release change or what, but CTRL+TAB now switch to the previous tab. I'm uncomfortable with this setting, so i dig into the about:config and found this: browser.ctrlTab.recentlyUsedOrder it was set to true, so change it to false restore my preferred behaviour. 😉
"If one product like #Chromium has enough market share, then it becomes easier for web developers and businesses to decide not to worry if their services and sites work with anything other than Chromium. That’s what happened when #Microsoft had a monopoly on browsers in the early 2000s before #Firefox was released. And it could happen again.
@bhaugen@ldubost I'm using #ABrowser on Trisquel 8 (basically deblobbed #Ubuntu). ABrowser is basically #Firefox, minus all the proprietary bits and anti-features, plus any privacy protection turned on by default. Current version is 63.0.3, but I've tried to use Cryptpad many time on previous versions, no joy. I also have #uBlockOrigin and #NoScript installed, but I've tried disabling them both when looking at Cryptpads, no luck.
