I was going to send the kids a 90s flashback message with this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=010KyIQjkTk ), but in most of 1992, #sonTwo was 4 and #Daddy_A was 3. They would still recognize it, but not in the way I hoped.

Books shipped to #sonTwo.
-
Altogether, 10 books (about #World_War_I, #World_War_II, US politics & political system) in tomorrow's shipment to #sonTwo.
-
#sonTwo is getting in on the #World_War_II reading. I also got him The Federalist Papers and the Anti-federalist Papers. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/99720

I need to send #sonTwo some money this month. But I need to make sure he knows there isn't likely to be anything to send next month.
-
#sonTwo laughed and said I was exaggerating when I told him that speaking online today was "as scary as your first airline flight"

The 18th was #sonTwo's 30th birthday.
-
I had planned to sleep in for another hour or so, but #sonTwo pocket-dialed me.
-
@arturovm That's exactly what #sonTwo said.
-
#StraightTalk thinks today is my birthday. AFAIK, I never told them that. (I have my #hotspot through them. I sent the #T-Mobile hotspot to #sonTwo.)
-
I also bought a 2nd copy to send to #sonTwo.
-
#sonTwo and his wife are heading to the theater to see the new #Star_Wars flick. I made sure not to say that the early reports I see in my timeline are not exactly positive.
-
@zacts Understood. I took my son to a movie some years ago theater to see a big #Dr_Who show. While we were there, several other attendees (in costume, of course) were debating (basically arguing, but without anger or namecalling) some trivial Dr Who minutiae. I had seen only the "Weeping Angels" episode. #sonTwo had seen several, but noted how off-putting this aspect of nerd culture can be.

RE: https://nu.federati.net/notice/728428 ... I told #sonTwo a few days ago that I was trying to persuade a young male in #Arkansas to go see a doctor. My son says "Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?"
(We then had a long discussion about how confusing the insurance plan is and how there doesn't seem to be an easy way to determine which doctors in #Missouri are covered by my #California insurance.)
-
@mike I'm doing. Talked to #fave_nephew, but missed #sonTwo's call.
-
@moonman Before you start counting your millions, I remind you that #sonTwo asked for some money.
-
#sonTwo: We're going to be eating microwave burritos for the next couple of weeks.
Is this his way of reminding me that he asked me to send money?
-
@fl0wn @moonman Yeah, I do most of my venting on my near-daily phone calls with #sonTwo and frequent calls with co-workers like Mark, S, and K. Because 80+% of the things that bug me about my life and the world I live in are work-related anyway.

On "Black Friday":
Somewhere around fifteen years ago, everyone I knew was telling me that I absolutely had to go shopping at the day after Thanksgiving sales (known as Black Friday because of the strain it puts on the employees, who sometimes cannot even take bathroom breaks). So I went.
I did not stand in line six to eight hours, like some people did. Instead, I showed up about two hours after the Big Blue Discount Store opened. The place was wall to wall people, like sardines in a can. They were still jostling one another, made worse by the fact that we were physically touching the people around us. The store was way past their fire marshall limit and still crowding people in.
My budget was small, and there weren't a lot of things left that were both inexpensive and worth more than the price. And all I could think was the crowd trampling each other if a fire broke out. I grabbed a couple of things and got in line. #sonTwo wandered away, returning with a couple of other things. Over an hour later, we paid for our stuff.
