@maiyannah There could be agreements between instances, but central authority wouldn't work. If it were tried it would just end up like the original identi.ca. One big server which becomes too expensive to maintain, plus Twitter-like dysfunctionality.
@hoergen@Tobias I think it would be also good to have a declaration, signed by all projects who agree that federation between multiple networks is important and who agree to actively work on keeping the different solutions compatible and take issues about interoperability problems serious and prioritize them. Because at the moment it is hard to tell who is part of the federation, and even more important who is part of it by accident or by commitment.

@elomatreb When this happens I try to explain that it's a scam and that the algorithm is designed to centralize everything from the beginning, but bitcoin is sufficiently complicated that magical thinking takes over and most folks don't understand the details.
