@gameragodzilla
Oh is that true? I missed that news. Step in the right direction to me personally. Tho...that doesn't mean they can't be lifeless and shitty.
As mentioned the other day in discussion, the problem isn't inherently that Geralt is a set character, it's that as a set character, you barely get proper control over his personality and he's fucking boring.
And with the track record so far...

I'm the Industy Leader in cosmetic products, because I'll sell you some lipstick for £2.
-
Oh and by the way I just searched up CD Projekt Red and found that their site tagline is as follows...
"The industry leader in creating role-playing games."
Which is such a ridiculously ballsy thing to say, from a company that's only ever made three Action-RPG games all from the same series that lack many traditional RPG features, and a digital card game.
I know taglines often exaggerate, but thats a bit fucking ridiculous.

@gameragodzilla
"No DRM"
...@maiyannah what was the thing with Battletech again?
-
It's one of those platforms that's pretty terrible and yet...has -just- enough goodness and no -true- competitors, that it still survives.
-
Youtube these days is simultaneously something I don't really want to die, for the few channels I watch and...well I dunno what I'd do to waste time if I didn't have Youtube.
Yet also something I hate because it's a horrid platform filled with horrid people.
-
@gameragodzilla
They don't -actually- give a fuck about you, is why.
They just want to be seen as 'one of the good ones' pushing the agenda. Being an 'ally' is beneficial in their circles, they don't actually care if that involves making genuine reasonable change or not.
-
@maiyannah
ah, no, I didn't mean it that way at all >.> You're quite athletic with all the physio stuff.
...which...is hot btw.
-
@maiyannah
As we've both experienced, if you're viewed as being on the 'wrong' side then you just become part of the amorphous indistinct blob they call "our enemies"
-
@maiyannah
Mhm. I've seen lots of people now honestly go "Oh man I feel so bad for calling him out now he's suffering"
Seriously? He was still an asshole then. He still needed to be told he was behaving badly.
By the same logic, we should never ever tell off anyone for doing wrong because hey, one day they might be in a bad situation.
-
A surprising amount of people view genuine constructive criticism of a persons work, which is naturally separate from their life, as basically going "fuck you, die"
Those things...really aren't the same.
-
I've seen a -lot- of people say they're "sorry" for every criticizing Totalbiscuits work, because his cancer has taken a very bad turn for the worst recently.
If your criticisms of his work were valid, there's nothing to be sorry for. Critique of work is good, it allows one to learn and improve. Criticizing work isn't the same as criticizing ones personal life.
I don't really like Totalbisuit, I don't really like his work, at least not anymore. Me saying that isn't some despicable thing because he's having a very rough time. I can say that, and I am, while still thinking he shouldn't have to face the horrible circumstance he's in.
Don't conflate personal insults and critique, and don't feel guilty when the latter is valid. Genuine logical criticism is a -good- thing, and the more people go "oh it was so shitty to ever give any of that cos they're struggling personally now" the more proper constructive critique is quelled.
-
"I take back all of my genuine legitimate criticisms of a persons content, because they're doing badly in their personal life now."
Apparently it's a harsh controversial opinion to have, but...people need to stop doing this.
Personal life can affect the output and quality of a persons professional content, but...that persons professional content is still a piece of work that can be critiqued and compared like anything else.
If as soon as the person has a rough personal time, you take back everything you said about a separate thing (their work) then...why'd you even say it in the first place?
-
It's why I much prefer collected graphic novel types, and films. They have an end point. You see the characters grow, to a particular point, in which everything fits, and then it's done. It doesn't need to continue. It reached conclusion, and it doesn't feel like those characters will just be twisted to get pulled straight into another thing. Because they're proper one-offs.
Comics as they are...just...keep going, they never reach anything, development never truly occurs and sticks.
Because...well...it can't. It doesn't work in the medium as it is.
-
Comics -never fucking end-
This thing people are complaining about, happens all the time. Characters are twisted, pushed and pulled away from ways that fit them, just to star in [insert next big thing here]
There's no true end point, because you're either leading into the next thing, which makes the current thing worse, -or- you're not doing so because it's a reboot/reset and then in which case, it feels like a waste of time following the characters.
-
A lot of people are chatting about Tom Kings current Batman run, and the way it feels like a lot of it is mis-using side characters, just to prop up the main ones, and how the justification for this is "well the side characters are clearly gonna be used in Tom Kings next project."
And this...feels like a good demonstration of why I've really fallen out of love with comics.
-
In brighter lovely stuff tho.
@maiyannah is utterly wonderful and my lovely :3

The amount of being who are completely willingly and deliberately blind to the issues of that man and his platform, because addressing them would disrupt their worldview, is appalling.
-
"There's a definite trend towards more friendliness from Masto because Eugene has fostered that attitude"
Hello citizens of Alternate Universe Earth, could anyone help me get back to my home reality?

@maiyannah
:O? <3!
