A successful #anarchist revolution, unlike a tankie coup d'état, depends on building consensus with the vast majority of people, most of whom we have little in common with. Judgement and name-calling might feel cathartic at the time, but they are exactly the opposite of what makes anarchist movements work effectively.

@nosleep "the economy" is meant to be an abstract noun describing the way large-scale human cooperation can provide for human needs better than household self-sufficiency. But for people like #GlennBeck it's an all-powerful god, which can only be satiated with human sacrifice. Remember how that worked out for the Azteks.

@Catsandcatsandcats I think the most likely consequences of a #UBI is that unemployed people would stop spending most of their waking hours figuring out how to get by (or get wasted to cope with the stress), and instead spend them figuring out how to contribute back to the society that is supporting them.

@Catsandcatsandcats Some people think longterm unemployment is like a permanent holiday. Believe me, it isn't. A holiday is a break from routine, in which you can spend surplus you accumulate over months of paid work. Being unemployed is more like having an unpaid job, with constantly shifting requirements and working hours, and strong social pressure against taking holidays, or even relaxing over the weekends. All while trying to live on the smell of an oily rag.

@how I've heard that #COVID19 the numbers related deaths in Italy and Spain are now higher than in China. So per capita, they are orders of magnitude higher. China would have to have more than 15 times the number of deaths to have the same per capita rate.
