@anne π
Which printer do you have? I'm currently looking for good multi- color / material solutions!
For now though: a white lithophane print π

Done with that lovely roll of black PLA filament. Expect photos of all my upcoming 3D prints to be mostly white PLA for the foreseeable future π

I really don't have any complaints when it comes to speed. It certainly beats parcel services π
Don't forget: burning a CD also used to be quite the undertaking: we started with 1x speed at 150KB/s, 74 minutes per disc.

Correct! The finer the layer height / nozzle width the finer the details, but also the longer it'll take to finish the print.
There's such a wide range of materials and manufacturers, you'll find a filament for pretty much any use case nowadays: strong, flexible, heat resistant, ...
Last but not least, there's more than just one method to 3D print: fused depositing, the most common one, prints layer after layer on top of each other. But there are other methods like "SLS", too.

I'll probably not manage to cover everything in a single toot, but alas, let's start somewhere:
- reasonable printers start at $150
- filament is somewhere between $10 and $30 per kg (2.2lbs)
- software is mostly opensource and free
- you usually print at around 50mm per second, with variable layer heights (between 0.05mm and 0.5mm)Durability heavily depends on the material used. PLA is easy to print, but won't last as long as ABS or PETG. There is also TPU, a flexible material.

This dragonfly was roughly the size of my hand and just sat there, right next to me, for a couple of minutes.

As relevant as ever:
"The events of 1933-1945 should have been fought no later than 1928. Later it was too late. One must not wait until the struggle for freedom is called treason. One must not wait until the snowball has become an avalanche. You have to crush the rolling snowball. No one stops the avalanche."

I guess it's time to update your Android device. Ahem... I meant it's time to pray your manufacturer of choice decides to provide an update for you.

@fribbledom @Chaos_99 @nin @ericbuijs This is the stuff that makes me love FOSS so much. People just going "hey that's a good idea" and then just starting work on it. No corporate funding crap needed - just interest and enthusiasm towards a common want.

This morning I moaned about how there should be a parameterized design for modular & stackable ESP/Arduino/RaspberryPi cases.
Only a couple hours later and an entire project has formed around the idea and several people started working on it. Check out our humble beginnings:

Thanks to @Chaos_99 @nin @ericbuijs for sharing all the enthusiasm and putting so much work into it! This is going to be great!

Sounds like we're off to a good start π
