@kemonine That's terrific! I am only replying to mail this coming month, aside from two fan letters. I write fan letters each year, I have had only one reply, from Stephen Fry. I wrote to James Frawley and Gene Wilder, now they are dead :-( @aldersprig

@TheAdmin Is mastodon.cloud now a pornography instance, or is a user choosing to ignore the 'sensitive media' setting? I'm seeing photos on the public timeline that not every instance member would consider tasteful.

@gemlog I watched a UK quiz show where the English contestants had to name ingredients in Italian dishes. I squawked when some offered "ham" and "Worcestershire Sauce." EU membership hasn't bestowed expanded gastronomic knowledge. Me, antipasto was my first solid food.

About #PublicDomainDay: yes, "The Pilgrim" (1923) along with "Safety Last" and "Our Hospitality" is a classic silent comedy worth watching, but "The Pilgrim" (my fave Chaplin film) also is part of "The Chaplin Revue" which is still under copyright; Chaplin composed soundtracks and re-issued his old films so he'd retain copyright.
