I don't accept B but I certainly accept A. No reasonable discussion among public figures has ever been had about A because it is all dismissed on grounds of B being lunacy.

@p has anyone ever provided a reasonable rational explanation for the weird code talk in the podesta emails that led to "pizzagate"? Having known of Comet Pizza as a fucking weirdo spot long before I never believed in a child rape dungeon there, but that it was some kind of distraction from an obvious point that discussions of handkerchiefs and walnut sauce aint mother fuckin normal.

@mrmcmayhem well it already is a big fat problem. And no, it isn't all that different. There's a valid observed inequality in regards to home ownership but the assumption is that the system is wrong rather than people just being unqualified. Solving one of these two is hard, the other not so much. Just like the previous issue with subprime mortgages.

@PhoneBoy @mrmcmayhem This is one of the more important pieces of wisdom I picked up over the years. People tend to rationalize it that way as well because the truth that no one is in charge, that it is all just a matter of chaos and that power is mostly illusory is...terrifying.

Although I openly wonder if pre-industrial folks with more brutish lives were just better off and happier despite it all. So there's that.

@wjmaggos @mrmcmayhem @DaDenMan Is access to information equal? Of course not. But I think things start to get real uncomfortable for people because we want to be kind. And kindness doesn't jive well with labeling bad choices and poor cognitive skills. We do no favors by absolving people of the former and being realistic about the latter is at least a start.

Location, hey if you're in a not great one, work at it to get to a better one, lots of people do. Meeting the right people; you gotta get out there, networking is a skill and it can be learned. Fatalism is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

1) You'd never actually be able to eliminate many if any programs.
2) There will be constant pressure to raise it. There's too much incentive for politicians to advocate for an increase. The exemption to this is when the pool of funds is directly tied to a non-taxed revenue source like the Alaskan oil fund.

@mrmcmayhem @wjmaggos @DaDenMan it's only a fallacy if you consider "fair" to opportunity/interest. They consider it to be real because the numbers are actually different. There's a total disagreement between the two sides on what actually constitutes fairness, so you can't really bridge this gap
