The Ferengi one is crap, plus it bills you per minute of charging.

The Borg one works with anything but after the first charge, your device will no longer be compatible with any other charger.

Don't use the Klingon one. It'll blast your device with random voltages and then call it weak if it explodes.

I maintain that any shift leftward MUST be done democratically from the bottom up.

I think perhaps the real problem with the Soviet Union was that it was the product of a small, autocratic ruling class (that had violently replaced the previous small, autocratic ruling class).
In their efforts to redistribute wealth, they failed to redistribute power and concentrations of power are much, much worse.

Unlike most pokรฉmon who view humans as other predators, the Pikachu is an apex predator that views humans as prey.

i've been working on this tabletop worldbuilding game for a long time, and now its out~~
the ground itself is a one-session collaborative storytelling game about places over time, and the echoes we leave in the physical memory of space
you can get the pdf on https://everestpipkin.itch.io/the-ground-itself

Iโve found that it helps to have books on them, though.

The laser cutter works!!
I am ridiculously happy because we designed and built almost every component of it from local hardware stores for much cheaper than buying a kit online would have been. But we do have a CNC machine we used to cut out some pieces so that may be cheating.
This is the first thing we have successfully cut out using the laser cutter.

(Although I also eschewed GUIs a lot back then so it's possible I'm remembering it as being a better than it was.)

To be fair, this was also mid-90s-era Linux. It's almost certainly bloated some since then.
But I was using it to do school assignments and various hacking projects back then and it was perfectly usable.

I was mostly just parodying mid-90s-era Linux advocacy, but yeah, absolutely. 8MB is enough to get X, a window manager, and some terminals up and running and then also do useful things.
I was able to get X and (IIRC) TWM working on a 486 with 4MB of RAM but it ground to a halt the moment I ran (e.g.) a C compiler. Upgrading to 8 made everything fine.

One nice thing about Ada was that *if* your program compiled, it usually ran correctly and if it didn't you'd find out within five minutes or so.

It was the language we used for assignments in my 2A Computer Science course ("really just an introduction to Unix"). There was only one computer with an Ada compiler on it, a 68k-based SUN server shared among about 100 students.
The compiler was... not fast. And with 100 users, many of whom ^Z'd instead of ^C'ing, things were less good.
Long story short, this was how I learned vi, the power of NFS, and USENET.

Yes.
Ditch that M$ crapware and install Slackware Linux instead. fvwm95 looks just as good but your computer won't crash when you look at it funny.

Related to this, Getting Over It is part of the current Humble Bundle so the original (non racist?) game is available DRM-free and cheap right now.

The society which scorns excellence in plumbing as a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because it is an exalted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy: neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water.
