Yesterday at #OSSummit I realized I'm still struggling with this question:

What is a clear "organizational contribution" to #OpenSource?

Cash or in-kind gifts are easy to understand. Things that people do, much murkier.

An organization is an attribute of a contributor, who may have affiliations with multiple orgs.

How can a #FreeSoftware project clearly understand "from which org" any given code (or non-code) contribution is really coming from?

Human brains are not that compartmentalized.

    Today:

    * Got my first ShinyR stats webapp running (only one graph for now, but at least it's interactive!)
    * Mentored school kids in Scratch and Python (fully registered STEM Ambassador, AMA :P)
    * Played first game in our new Charterstone legacy campaign - really good!

Satisfied me now chilling with some Path of Exile before bed. A good day.

@pla @fitheach it's actually freely available from the Met Office, although you have to register with the data host.

So far I've only downloaded the region around me, as I'm trying to cone with a heuristic that can say something about how good the summer of a year was, based on only rainfall and temp. It's tricky, but here's my first pass...

@fitheach @pla I was about to say, Summer is merely on hiatus. September always has at least one decent spell in it ;)

Which reminds me, I need to get back to my weather data project. I have daily rainfall and temp data for every 5km square of the country, back to 1960. Gotta be able to do something interesting with that...

Use Flask? Update it, like *now*:

    - https://github.com/pallets/flask/pull/2691/files

If I'm reading this right, you can use an encoding mismatch to trick the JSON decoder into interpreting escaped quotes, etc, as actual punctuation. Think SQL injection, where the JSON decoder is the database engine. Now imagine someone sends:

    `name = 'foo", \'is_root\': True, \'junk\': "'`

or similar, and instead of changing their name, you give them root access.
