@brian I'm using a plugin called "static site" (ironic name, I know). You can generate it as an archive, or if the two sites are on the same svr, you can get it to migrate the files automatically. That's what I do, and on the wp site, I've just set htaccess to deny all except a select few up addresses.

This is an i5, but only a little over £200. They're everywhere, just have to hunt for a good quality one, rather than a low grade refurbished one with a load of marks on the screen.

@Ghosty it obviously isn't the latest generation, mine is a G2 and I think the latest is G6? But it's a fantastic machine, and I'll definitely get a few years out of it. Absolute bargain.

@jason @Ghosty @jt I recently got my first ThinkPad (and X1 Carbon) after a recommendation from @popey.

What a machine! I've been really missing out. Linux compatibility is great, it's super quick (i7, 8 Giggerdy RAM, 256 SSD) and looks awesome. Best thing? It cost me a little over £300 from eBay!

I now see why these devices have such a following.

@jason As someone who recently went through a similar process, I really enjoyed that post, thanks for sharing.

I ended up going with "good" old WP, and I'm generating a static site from it. It's working really well so far, and I know WP so there's no learning curve.

When I have more time, I will probably look in to other options, but for now this works fine.
