My new website is nearly done. I think I'll be able to start uploading my content by tomorrow.

Biggest hurdle to get past currently, is automating a way of embedding Disqus comments to every post - I have a cunning plan. 😀

@webinista true. But I would argue that depending on the level of abuse seen, nothing would protect you. It's just as easy to abuse someone into handing over a book, as it is to handing over a LastPass password.

@ChrisWere absolutely, couldn’t agree more. I think people are too quick to jump on the high-tech bandwagon. Yeah, it’s great, but it isn’t always the best solution.

@h4ck3r9 I don't use anything for analytics (see the privacy page on my site).

The new site is plain old WordPress, but I'm generating a static site off of it and uploading that. Works like a charm, and is a good mix of usability, ease of use and features.

Work on my new static site is coming along nicely. I want to keep the look and feel as close to my current site as possible (https://kevq.uk). This is what I have so far.

Plus, because I'm building it pretty much from the top down (it's based on a very basic theme), I can release it under Creative Commons - BONUS!

@ChrisWere I listened to this podcast a couple months ago. Very interesting, and rather sad in parts too. Well worth a listen. The RSS is on most podcast apps, so you don't necessarily need to get it from Audible.

@nolan we're having the same problems on Fosstodon. What @mike and I ended up doing, was killing the registration, and replacing it with a link to a form that emails us. We can make a decision and provide them with a one-time invite link.

It's not perfect, but it's an unhappy medium for now. Have a look at ours. If you want me to package up the form etc. let me know.

@sheogorath I'm currently using Ghost too, but I begrudge having to use a dedicated server and nodejs for what is a very simple site.

Ghost is awesome, but I don't think I need that level of functionality.
