@ben0_o YIKES! Maybe it was a Mydas fly (non-stinging wasp mimic)? We had a type of those in Kansas that looked just like mud daubers.

@bthall First thing a remote site does when it sees a new user is does a webfinger request. That lists all the addresses for your inboxes, your salmon endpoint, your public key, etc. etc. (if you do a view-source on your Mastodon homepage, you can see some of the same links). There is no standards-based reason I can see that any of those links have to be on any particular domain name. Webfinger could be a forwarding thing, basically.

@bthall Hmm. If I'm figuring this correctly, only the webfinger has to be on the domain that's part of your address. The webfinger could then point to your inbox on *any* domain.
Hmm.
HMMMMMMM.

Can somebody dump me a structure.sql off the Mastodon database structure? I wanna play around with some DB tools but don't wanna install a whole instance on my home box just to run the schema.rb part.

Why are highly-tactical RPGs switching from map-based measurements (24") to real-world-based (48 meters)... so I have to divide all the measurements by 2 to convert them to the map?

We went for a foilage tour. Yeah, I thought it was a *foliage* tour but I was wrong on several levels.

Okay, we visited Washington Crossing and I can totally see how the British would never have expected General Washington to cross there because the bridge is barely big enough for our minivan much less tanks.
We realized, after bumping side-view mirrors with someone, that you could tell the locals because they folded their mirrors before venturing onto the bridge.

@gemlog Just a category. Heirloom is kinda vague, but mostly means a non-hybrid that you can theoretically keep growing from its own seed every year.

It's a Friday the 13th, which means that it's time for JSONVORHEES to magically appear in Pickaxe.Club. Which has PvP turned on, but generally doesn't see much inter-player conflict... until JSON shows up and starts killing people. All in good fun, of course. And he always makes them a nice gravestone.

@BrodyBr I'm sure that's a question they're asking themselves every day. (I think they're answering it wrong though.)

@BrodyBr Yeah, they really needed to be honest and say, "Look, we're scared to do it." Pathetic but kind of understandable at this stage.
Because the alternative is "We support all this." Which is the interpretation I'm taking these days.

@gemlog Well, that's what adding the +something to an email address does.
But I have pretty robust filtering, so aside from almost-but-not-quite-legit stuff like Jostens, I almost never see spam.

@gemlog Yeah, I let the Gmail address go where it will (though I've distributed the . in nonstandard fashion when I'm curious about whether it might get shared). When I'm doing stuff I actually care about I use a + version of my real, self-hosted email. (Although at 20+ years old, I'm pretty sure the base address is already on every list out there. Yay SpamAssassin.)

@gemlog I give schools and such my Gmail address, specifically so I can click the little "unsubscribe and report as spam" link. Enough of those and they'll get blackballed from Gmail which is tantamount to being banned from the Internet, as far as a place like that is concerned.

The primary variety of oak in our neighborhood has some major acorns. Pretty sure you could break into houses here and we'd just go "stupid acorns" and roll over and go back to sleep. Including the person whose door you kicked in. https://mastodon.social/media/shv64RgInJBf8Uod44I

@einebiene What I have is adhesive vinyl, so I'm going with silkscreening - got a great big embroidery hoop, some open-weave "silk," and will stick the stencil onto the fabric. I've done light-set silkscreen (years back) but never this way.

@einebiene Probably that's more a job for a cutting machine (Craftrobo, Silhouette, Cricut, etc.) I have the stuff to stencil shirts but haven't done it yet.
