@bremner Costco doesn't actually say to leave it on the porch, just that "UPS will pick it up" which, on further contemplation, really just means that Costco's mail-order is geared toward businesses and that means "UPS will pick it up at your reception desk" kind of thing.
So apparently the Costco return method is... put the package back on the porch and UPS will pick it up in 4-7 days, no return label or RMA or anything? Seems weird, but 🤷
@leadore Two or three little air pillows are insufficient to deal with THREE KILOS OF SPREADABLE HAZELNUT AND CHOCOLATE and Costco should *know* that. <harrumphs>
@whami@dphiffer Same in this slack, actually, including a four-part super-sized version (that doesn't really work as actual reaction but sometimes gets used there anyway).
@leadore Oh, it's Costco, they will. It's just kinda gone from "Magical Nutella Delivery" to "UPS Will Pick It Back Up And Bring Another Next Week" which takes some of the magic away.
@cwebber My sister and I have kind of an amusing gifting protocol: if it's pink, I get it for her. If it has a dragon on it, she gets it for me. (Result: one year I got a bottle of "Mad Dragon" bum wine. 😆)
Of course sometimes we just sent each other pictures of things we *threaten* to get each other, as with the pink Glitter Coffin I just sent her a picture of. ✨⚰️✨
@cwebber Yeah, my sister's response of ACK! when I sent her this as a proposed Christmas gift for her 10yo's was very ambiguous and I think now I have plausible deniability.
@kelbot Yeah, 99% of what I'm doing with the Pi is text-based, tty or Geany.
Aliexpress did not care for my login info so I put one on my Amazon wishlist. $10 more, but infinitely more likely that a relative will buy it from there. 😆
The Smartipi is what I use at home. I repurposed a Knomo iPad case (the screen-protecting piece just peels off the hard back shell) to give it screen protection for mobile but since I use a full-size keyboard on that one it's really not *very* mobile.
My real problem with the official touchscreen is the resolution. A lot of sites (including Masto) have no trouble with the "800x..." part but they just go ahead and assume the "...600." 1024x600 might be the same.
Krampus update: it has spurred so much discussion and interest among neighbors that now the Krampus-hirer (who has ordered a costume for the purpose, and who already had a Santa actor to come in after) is looking for a community place to have the Krampus/Santa visit. One neighbor has volunteered their actual baby for Krampus to put in his bag. 🤷♀️
