@simon_brooke I am a crap programmer so I've never figured out why people write tests for their code.

I tend to write the code, and if it works that means it's okay, if it doesn't work then I go back and fix it. Why would I need to spend time writing automated tests?

When I was recently in Northern Ireland I was mystified as to why coachloads of people were arriving in an unremarkable car park to take photographs. It was only when I got back that I found out it was a location in said programme!

@andybroomfield @davidbenque I am more of a radio listener than a TV watcher, but if I only had Commercial Bullshit FM to listen to I'd probably give up altogether.

My main bugbear with the BBC is the way the schedules, particularly on the radio side, are packed with the children of past BBC presenters and executives. I'm sure the due process was followed and they were deemed the best people for the positions...

@woozle To be fair, a lot of these radio stations were shit before they were Heart. But it is still concerning in terms of media plurality.

I assumed I was picking up a ghost broadcast from 1953 and contacted the authorities immediately.

Who is Danny Dier? When he talks, it makes me wish my radio had subtitles.

@risabee It's not changed much at small radio stations! As recently as 2011 we had a filing cabinet with each day's news stories on paper, full of crossed-out passages and edits as the day went on and the story developed.

Never had the time limit issue, though. If you're on network news you have to read to exactly two minutes because the network is expecting that length, but on a local station it doesn't really matter.

Great to hear D.W. (you know who you are) back on the radio. One of the good guys in radio.
