I agree wholeheartedly with this article! Why are our great cities prostrating themselves for the chance to host a small office block for a few disinterested low-level TV executives?

We should be saying to central government - we have our own culture, we don't need your pathetic half-arsed handouts, stop making us compete for this crap and go away.

@bobstechsite I've never been to Reading. I picture it as lots of glass office blocks surrounded by miles of generic Barratt Homes suburbia.

Perhaps it's actually a lot more interesting... ?

@david_ross @cathal Thank you! I've just made the switch from Debian because I was having a lot of computer issues and needed to reinstall anyway. But if *ubuntu are doing creepy stuff with their Firefox, I might reconsider.

@nev Also in today's Guardian, more about Amazon working conditions: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/may/31/amazon-accused-of-treating-uk-warehouse-staff-like-robots

Americans and American corporations come here and treat the UK workforce like trash - we're far away from the prying eyes of the US media who could cause them problems in their home market, so who cares?

@Antanicus A lot of people from eastern Europe countries come to Britain for economic reasons, but an awful lot also come here because it's a place where you can exist as, for example, an out LGBT person without much of the victimisation and violence they experience in their home countries.

The EU must punish the governments of those countries for allowing such an intolerant environment to persist. We largely moved on from such bigotry, why can't they?

@Antanicus The EU is far too lenient on this type of thing. Poland and Hungary should also be out, unless they do something about their far-right governments stomping on people's rights and generally being racist and bigoted. The threat of being chucked out would concentrate a few minds in Warsaw, Budapest, Bucharest etc.

@MightyPork It will have happened outside - I hang clothes out to dry as I don't have an automatic dryer (and it's better for the environment).

@ghost_bird Possibly insect eggs! I hang my clothes to dry outside and my garden has lots and lots of bugs (I encourage butterflies and bees and bugs tend to come with those!).

Maybe some bug or other mistook my jeans for a leaf and laid its eggs. The pattern is remarkably precise. :)
