I wonder if I can convince people at Sentry to use Mastodon?

Looking through all of my old pictures, I have to ask my younger self: why were you so into bad haircuts?! 😰

When you lose a good #Mediagoblin theme to the sands of time and bad data storage practices.
Here's the one I made to imitate Instagram.

Operating a Scuttlebutt server just for brand accounts of local businesses.
I feel like that could happen in Portland somewhere.

@tobias @kaniini It'd be interesting to see a truly p2p-client style approach to federated networking (on the desktop or mobile end, without the need for a server at all)
There have been a few recent approaches to the problem. Scuttlebutt approached it in a fairly novel way by assuming that data connections probably aren't persistent, and would rely on an alternate mechanism for fetching and storing updates to data.

@kaniini But not all of the federated web is using TOR, nor is all of The Dark Web using federated communication apps.

The Federated Web is not The Dark Web, but you know, some idiot journalist will eventually conflate the two terms.

@abbenm I think a nihilist might say "Yeah, I think it's an interesting idea, Nietzche has a lot of useful criticisms of belief systems and how they can ultimately collapse in on themselves, rendering personal meaning and motivations down an introspective path of self-destruction."
I've never heard a self-described nihilist actually say that they believed in the tenets of the subject.

@noelle Woah, I had no idea that this even existed. :/
Sorry to hear that you have to deal with that. That's super intense.

So out of all the religious books I ordered, the Qur'an arrived first.
I guess that has to be my religion now. That's how that works, right?

@ryanbytes What's funny is that IGG is becoming less and less like Kickstarter. Their larger campaigns transform into a hybrid system called InDemand, which is basically a never-ending campaign that continuously takes preorders and fulfills them in waves.

@maiyannah Well, retail store pricing is also almost always highway robbery. 80 bucks for a shirt. 60 bucks for shorts.
Almost everything I wear is thrift in some form.

@maiyannah All I know is that I came here to go clothes shopping, and was so disappointed at the prices and the quality that I shuffled aimlessly like a zombie, unable to find satisfaction anywhere.
I've tried buying clothes online, but that process is also lacking for different reasons.
