@moonman @cyberpotato I'd also like a display for any RADAR / LIDAR data coming in, for blizzard/rain driving. Plus a UHF RADAR would be nice too, not sensitive to precipitation
@moonman @cyberpotato Most of the dev versions of these (semi-)autonomous vehicles are actually extremely cautious from what I hear. So much so that they would cause traffic problems in the real world. Things like there being pedestrians near a crossing who aren't allowed to cross but they might, so we'd better drive extra slow
For now it seems lane keeping works well enough, I wouldn't be opposed to that for long motorway drives. Turning on auto and keeping one hand on the wheel just in case could work fine
That depends on what you mean by self-driving. You can certainly follow nice painted lines on a clean road, that's like an afternoon of OpenCV hacking. Add some kind of distance sensor and you've got automatic lane keeping right there. But no-one's going to write a thing that can self-drive in a blizzard any time soon
Barcelona migrates to Free Software. The plan is to start with the applications until the last remaining proprietary software is the operating system which will then be replaced by GNU/Linux. https://itsfoss.com/barcelona-open-source/#pmpc
