My take on the idea of redesigning the spire of Notre Dame, and on attitudes toward art and architecture in Europe versus the United States.

The mental images you get from these language names are fairly bizarre and unappealing. Who'd want to lisp in rust? How do you actually do that? Stick your mouth in a bowl of iron filings and speak like Igor from Frankenstein?

@ParkerTechGuy That type of message usually means that a 500 Internal Server Error was received from the server under the hood. All errors are unexpected. It's more apt to say that a known error occurred on the server, but its exact nature wasn't revealed to you for security reasons. Hackers can exploit detailed data about server errors in order to breach the security of websites, so developers changed their software to avoid sending it.

I actually have a far better relationship to my email inbox at work.

The vast majority of the messages I receive there are triggered by humans wanting to interact with me. Granted, they often mean that I have to do actual work, and that's a drag, but then again, I am at work and that's kind of the idea.

There is also a good number of messages that just thank me for doing a good job. I never get emails like that in my personal email inbox.

It would be great if computers didn't glitch. Just saying.

I'm coming to the gradual realisation that I hate my email inbox.

It's dominated by messages sent to me by machines, mostly to notify me of various paperwork I must do.

On the rare occasion that I communicate with real people over email on my personal time, they're typically employees of companies I need to interact with, not friends or relatives.

Email does not fill me with joy, and much like the snail mail that came before it, I mostly want it to go away.

I think Assange's supporters are waging an info war. They're saying wildly inaccurate things such as "Assange was arbitrarily detained for 7 years" when the fact is that he could've left at any time, and they also have weird conspiracy theories about those Swedish women who reported him for sexual assault, despite the fact that Sweden is basically ultra-feminist and this kind of thing is par for the course there. I think they know better. They're just trying to twist the facts.

Some blogger claims that Millennials do not recognise the Save icon as a floppy disk, and then goes on to say that he's born in the early 1980s, making him neither a Gen X'er nor a Millenial.

Dude. That literally makes you a Millennial. You're just near the lower birth year limit. I get what you mean. We grew up in the 1990s, sandwiched between the fall of the Berlin Wall and 9/11. It was an awkward but innocent time. MTV was dying, but the Internet wasn't big yet, and phones were dumb.

I hate ordering from Farnell, mostly because I only resort to it for exotic parts I can't find on eBay, and those exotic parts tend to cost a lot of money.

Additionally ordered 10 replacement analog sticks for PS4. They should be handy for building various control interfaces.

Also ordered this FT232H break-out board from eBay. It talks various serial protocols such as RS232, SPI, I2C and JTAG and is designed for being hooked up to a desktop computer.

It's a hassle to set up a Raspberry Pi or an MCU just to test some module. This looks like a more convenient way of doing it.

Ordered this fancy CIE 1931 XYZ colour sensor board from Farnell for my lighting project. It's based on the AS73211 colour sensor chip. This could also be used to calibrate the colours on a computer monitor. It can't be used to measure CRI (Colour Rendering Index) values for LED lights, though. It can measure colour accurately, but it doesn't break down the light spectrum into individual wavelengths.

So, apparently, this OpenSearchServer instance is treating the word "kjøpsloven" as a long version of the word "kjøp" and is clipping it before even sending it to the engine itself...

    There are two possibilities...

    a) I'm stupid and OpenSearchServer is so easy to use that it doesn't really need detailed documentation.

    b) I am of normal intelligence and OpenSearchServer is really badly documented.

I'm genuinely curious about the effect mixing fibre into a sugary food has on digestion and metabolism. I thought fibre just affected digestion, but apparently, something supposedly happens to blood sugar levels and such too, but they never really say what exactly, or how strong the effect is.

Just ate like 10 cookies. Not my proudest moment. But at least I had an excuse: Hypoglycemia. I was starting to white out and lose sensation in my face, so I definitely needed the two first cookies. It's the rest of them that was a questionable decision...
