Travis Barker played another show with The Aquabats and this time he played Super Rad which means I can finally see how he played that insane hi-hat shit during the breakdown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mv-yiNn29E
in other step-daughter related news, last night she saw me tinkering with lisp game stuff and asked if we could make a game. I don't think I was able to hold her interest given how primitive my capabilities are. I got a sprite on screen and she immediately wondered why she couldn't move around when she pressed the arrow keys. games are hard! later I did manage to give the sprite a 2 frame animation and the ability to move left/right and jump. maybe that will get her interest back.
yesterday my step-daughter asked if she could have her own garden bed, so I said yes and we made a little plot. she told me that she wanted a "neat" garden, a not-so-subtle dig at my more chaotic style of throwing seeds everywhere. so we planted nasturtium, larkspur (new to me), zinnia, bachelor's buttons, and spinach, each in their own "neat" section. then I planted peas all around the border to trellis up the small branch-and-twine fence we're going to build.
I may not have a damn thing to submit to the lisp game jam, but I did manage to get a few hours of hack time in on a tiny game engine that steals some ideas from godot.
Upgrading Ubuntu is absolutely miserable. Every time I have to slog through a mountain of apt errors I remember why I use GuixSD on all my own machines.
