@directhex We've had a Beyond Burger at a restaurant and would describe it as "not bad", but both my S.O. and I have been vegetarians for over 20 years and would really just prefer a tasty veggie burger patty that isn't pretending to be meat.

Part of the issue with the burger was that it was nearly 20€ — more expensive than all the real meat burgers. And it was the restaurant's only veggie option (other than fries & a milkshake).

Is Impossible similar? (I can't have it, sadly.)

@n8 @thibaultamartin (I think we actually have Google to thank for transit authorities making their data no-cost and switching to GTFS, as they demanded it for Google Maps. Some used to require payment and they all had their own wacky API years ago.)

    @n8
@thibaultamartin It's not exactly a FOSS issue, as proprietary apps also have the same issue — even Google (although they might tap into their Android userbase now? they do for cars at least… but they're not the best with non-car transit, as it's developed in the Bay Area).

Most of the transit authorities and apps use GTFS now, as far as I'm aware.

@thibaultamartin @n8 Transportr and Offi are both great FOSS apps for transit.

Quality of data depends on location, of course. (But it's at least accurate, with delays even, where I live.)

In case you missed it, there's a privacy-friendly alternative to Google Play.

It's called F-Droid and only includes free open apps that don't track you:

    https://switching.social/ethical-alternatives-to-google-play/

The installation process is slightly complicated, but once it's been installed it's extremely easy to use.

Autistic People. So, new Research. Different social skills, not broken ones.

    https://annsautism.blogspot.com/2019/05/autistic-people-so-new-research.html

"In essence, what we are demonstrating for the first time is that autistic people's social behaviour includes effective communication and effective social interaction, in direct contradiction of the diagnostic criteria for autism. We have, for the first time, uncovered empirical evidence that there is a form of social intelligence that is specific to autistic people."

In other words, different social skills, not broken ones. We have our own social signalling and can co-operate and interact effectively....with each other. Likewise, non-autistic people can generally co-operate and interact effectively...with each other. But put one of each group together, and they both tend to misunderstand one another. They don't feel rapport with one another, that sense that you just 'click' with someone and understand them.

This isn't a new theory, of course. Dr Damian Milton has been discussing Double Empathy theory for a while now. https://kar.kent.ac.uk/62639/1/Double%20empathy%20problem.pdf

For decades, autistic people have been told that our way of socialising and co-operating is a broken version of the 'real thing', Man...

@ohyran My Wacom tablet works on Wayland, in GNOME at least, except for not having proper left-handed support.

(It can flip the tablet for the style, but not the touchpad. That would be OK, I guess, if I could turn off the touchpad feature? Meanwhile, I have to use it right handed and it's very uncomfortable as a result. 😖)

Your comment makes me wonder what happens in X. 🤔

I don't need to use my tablet much, thankfully. But it's great to have sometimes.
