@lnxw37a1 @moonman I am unable to reach it at the current time.

Sometimes people don't know what they have till they've lost it.

I actually don't see the appeal of CoH beyond the nostalgia. The actual gameplay was pretty staid at best and it took forever to get a character from 0 to endgame. It never really had the social scene CO did at one time, or if it did, it was never really in Pocket D or anywheres I was going about.
Oh and for full disclosure I don't count the like 599802348932498328923 people asking me for pictures of my tits to prove I'm female to be a "social scene". More of a social cesspit.
-
@halani @purplehippo Trying to decide if COH clone thing or Xenoverse.
-
I just feel so tired of so much of this lately. Like, emotionally.

@halani @purplehippoRequest clearance for mutual limb enclosure

@bob @fribbledom@mastodon.social Well, the important thing is you feel like you're better than them, I suppose.
-
Every time I try to sit down with postActiv lately I cant escape the feeling that I am helping program the tools that will be used to oppress a minority.

@fribbledom@mastodon.social Mozilla has no principles, just PR.

@bob @fribbledom@mastodon.social I pretty much mentally turn off whenever people mention "alt-right" in a negative sense now. That label is about as ubiqutous and accurate as calling everyone "nazis".
People are people. Quit dehumanizing them. Bob, you're better than to do that.

Frankly I think I'd be quite happy to just withdraw entirely and find some cave in the hills to live in at this point, if I didn't have people who relied upon me. The last decade society, as a whole, has become a violent, toxic shitpool, and the worst offenders are ironically the most moralistic.
-
One of the things I'm getting really /tired/ of is how everything has to be viewed through the lens of politics, and things are given value only on their utility to a given value system. Something cannot simply be virtuous or vice. It has to to be a political tool. Sometimes the anti-capitalism stuff reads in the Network timeline some parallel universe McCarthyism. It's just as ill-informed and just as tribalistically inane. We crave for some external influence that holds us down and is responsible for all of our problems. At the end of the day, adversity is a circumstance, but suffering is a choice. And a lot of people choose to suffer, because they wish to be seen as some sort of martyr. It is the ultimate display of selfish and narcissitic ego, whatever good intentions it may cloak itself with.

Going to convert my belt pouches to some CaDPat stuff, because fuck it, I'm owning the homeless war vet look at this point, I may as well rock it. And the stuff meshing together nicely is pleasing.

@lnxw37a2 There's so much smoke and mirrors in the Marvel movie figures because they *have* to show they have growth to keep getting money and keep getting paid. It can't be just good or even excellent. It has to *grow* to please their Disney overlords.
-
@lnxw37a2 @codeawayhaley@mastodon.starrevolution.org @bob Only if you're going with the lowest-common denominator hosting, where they make pennies on the dollar to begin with. A lot of people go with cheap 2$ shared hosting or 5$ VPSes and then rage and rant when they get cut off. There is a such thing as you get what you pay for, and most cheap hosting companies only make money if they oversell aggressively and you use only a fraction of what you're promised.

The core flaw of socialism, communism, and capitalism is the same: they all rely on the premise that humans are inherently moral by nature.
They aren't.
-
@bob @alexbuzzbee If that's how you define capitalism, you literally don't understand capitalism.

High schools: We shouldn't bring politics into the class room, it's unprofessional (nevermind that they still do)
Colleges/Universities: What's the square root of Fuck Trump?

"Avengers: Endgame has already earned more money in just five days than 17 of the 21 previous films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe did in their entire theatrical run (including Captain Marvel). The Wrap reports that it's the first time in history a movie has earned over a billion dollars in just its first weekend.
It demolished the record $640,521,291 global box office opening for the previous Avengers movie, Infinity Wars, in 2018. This weekend the sequel earned $1,209,000,000, with both Avengers films earning more than the next-biggest-opening films The Fate of the Furious and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In fact, "In one fell swoop, Avengers: Endgame has already made more than movies like Skyfall, Aquaman and The Dark Knight Rises grossed in their entire runs, not accounting for inflation," reports USA Today:
To accommodate demand, Disney released Avengers: Endgame in more theaters (4,662 in the U.S. and Canada) than any opening before. Advance ticketing services set new records. Early ticket buyers crashed AMC's website. And starting Thursday, some theaters even stayed open 72 hours straight. "We've got some really tired staff," says John Fithian, president and chief executive of the National Association of Theater Owners. "I talked to an exhibitor in Kansas who said, 'I've never sold out a 7 a.m. show on Saturday morning before,' and they were doing it all across their circuit.""
This kind of growth is not sustainable, but every one of these films has to basically shatter records now to be a success.
Expect failures to start happening once people get fatigued of the marketing hype, in the same way we saw in gaming with COD/BF

@mangeurdenuage I am so triggered right now.
