@purplehippo Cryptic cancels action: Interrupted by elephant
-
@bob @fosslinux@tilde.zone Learning anything new is an investment of time and effort, and it's easy to rationalize the familiar.  All the same, Linux, and many other things, would do well to remember that people's priorities are different and "computer stuff" is not going to be a priority for  alot of people.  Your average person in a developing country just wants to view the things you and I do, they aren't invested in how.

Sometime today or tomorrow I will be updating prosody to see if that improves things for XMPP. Â I need to update the cert anyways. Â When I do, I will be installing a few additional XEPs.
-
@ninjawedding @er1n @jamey The thing about most of the stuff people are doing on the CAN BUS now is that its entirely off-spec. Â It's gotten pushed into a lot of spaces where it really wasn't designed for.

"Literally no one cares about this"
*person goes on to post a whole tweet thread about the thing noone cares about*

I think its pretty tasteless when people involve children in their activism/cults.

@purplehippo @postmesmeric @camoceltic That's not real money, GOG!
-
@purplehippo @postmesmeric @camoceltic GoG has been arse for longer than it hasn't been arse.

Looks like I need to renew the XMPP certificate. Â Ill do that when I get home from physio.

Oh, look what popped out of the !tzaf dispenser! Looks like a Neco conversation heart, it says, "federate with me"!

Also, the part of me from when I wore a badge worries: if you over-use these systems, people are just going to ignore them, and then when there really is an emergency that affects them or they can aid with, they're not going to be listening. Â "Boy who cried wolf"

It is something which deeply unsettles and depresses me sometimes to see how easily people lash out and tear down things, rather than building better things.  I do it.  You do it.  We all do it.  But that momentary catharsis may feel nice, it isn't making anything better.  You aren't building a better future by demeaning and degrading others.  You aren't going to make the world a better place by eliminating your respective outgroups.  Empathy's where it's at.  Care and understanding. And we just piss it all away.

@tjbierschbach If you can get out that way, you don't have to go out of your way for it.

I wish modern activists would try tl actually build up the downtrodden rather than use them as ideological stepping stones

@purplehippo It's like asbestos in that the threat it represents isn't obvious and it isn't going to happen immediately, so most people who don't know better assume its harmless.
