@dtluna blocks are a tool for filtering out content from your feed - it's nothing more.
Instance-wide blocks are dishonest for three reasons:
- they damage the network by breaking threads and so on
- certain masadong instances don't publish the reasons for blocks, almost all hide it on a secondary page that can be overlooked by a potential new user
- distributed blocklists based on flimsy reasons that are approved as truth
Beyond that, I don't particularly care about blocking mechanisms. *Reasons* for blocking might be funny to me though.

Polish self-determination is apparently the moral equal of a historical movement which almost succeeded in physically wiping out the Polish and taking their land.

@mayuutann @skoll it's a bit of a bad joke I make. I really don't like emoji and don't have fonts supporting those symbols installed - because of that, they show up as boxes on my computer.
The reason I quote 'stink' in the same way is a bit different - it's just an incredibly silly name for posts Extinct Mammal came up with when Extinct Mammal joined the fediverse.

>muh hate speech
Why not just always reply to a question about the culprit with something like >I'm legally not allowed to express a negative opinion about the Jews? After all you're just stating how the law works here, nothing else.

What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux. https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/854009
