I now realize this guy’s special-character virtual keyboard, which I’ve been using for years, is now only a small part of the current Chars app.

I can’t vouch for anything beyond the keyboard.

The way people with, uh, liberal values will refer to someone as “on the spectrum” baffles me.

I mean, their interlocutor either silently inserts the word “autism” or doesn’t get what they’re saying. These people profess to not see autism-spectrum people as broken, so what’s going on here?

Am I missing something, please?

That is to say, they’re making progress!

If you like what you see from them on your timeline, why discourage them from advancing further by giving them the idea nobody on the Fediverse will listen to them?
