@clacke @hattiecat @bob @samis @h @gemlog @cstanhope Just caught up - thanks for the info. I run ZFS on a FreeBSD box but to be honest am only using a fraction of its potential.

I also want to try DragonFly BSD's HAMMER for file versioning (something I've missed since VMS) but can't get it to run in a VM and have no spare hardware to try it with :-(

@kzimmermann I take it you're aware of those that exist but how easy it is to buy them is another matter. https://quitter.no/url/1639505

@kzimmermann I guess it's the relative small market for such a laptop given that it won't run Windows. OTOH many tablets are ARM.

Shouldn't criticise colleague's poor programming practices too hard, though - I've been programming for longer than he's been alive and developed defensive practices and maintainable code style from long bitter experience.

Still refactoring colleague's MATLAB code and porting to Octave. Worst things are div by zero is silent by default, weird behavior of mixed int/float arith again w/out warning. Need to add asserts everywhere.

Hmm, quitter.no doesn't seem to be feeding a lot of stuff from people I'm following to my timeline anymore. Only a handful. They've had server issues in recent days but has anyone else had trouble?

I rather think that public museums should digitize their collections and make them available to the public, either free or for a nominal sum. Fulfils preservation and dissemination of publicly owned artifacts. Allows a kind of digital restoration, too.

@moonman What happens to all his heads after they've been replaced though? In one dark anpanman version they retain consciousness but unable to speak. Batakosan later collects them and the dog Cheese eats them. Kowai!
