I've been watching Disney's The Little Mermaid with my 2yo over the last couple of days, and it...is problematic and has not aged well.
Some issues:
-Multiple grown-ass adults encouraging a 16 year old girl to use her feminine wiles to seduce an older man.
-The Prince appears to be in his mid-twenties at least. If he was just 20, the "divide by 2 and add 7" rule would still make Ariel too👏young👏for👏him👏
-Prince *Eric*? Was Prince Chad not seaworthy?

@ink_slinger @cognish A common sense in which "y'all" seems to be used in the singular is across races (black to white or vice versa), classes, or major power differentials, in which case it's actually referring to the person's entire group ("All you white people", "all you cops", etc.). Very American.

@cognish @ink_slinger This is 90% correct. Y'all is intended for groups (using it in a singular sense is technically incorrect and extra sassy). It's best for groups on the smaller side, and generally those you are more familiar with. "All y'all" is for larger groups, and especially those with whom you have less familiarity.
"Yunz" is the equivalent in Pittsburgh and a few other parts of the working class Northeast, and also dumb.

@ink_slinger Having lived in a "y'all" place, I'm sad it hasn't been universally accepted. It's a good patch for a bug in the English language, vastly superior to other options (no thank you, yunz), and has a positive relationship effect.
