@LibertyPaulM A lot of the features seem to exist in Kdiff3 and I've been using Kdiff3 as git conflict resolution tool since forever.
I wish Kdiff3 would have integration on par with what sublime merge has to offer.

After being on mastodon for a few months I realize I don't own enough #MechanicalKeyboards.
I'm envious of anyone who has Matt3o /dev/tty #keycaps and sincerely regret that I didn't boost any of the posts when I had a chance.
The keyboard photo is from this massdrop page, and I've requested another drop.

Unfortunately opensource community tolerated abusive people for way too long, so the rhetoric of gamergate creeps doesn't sound as alien as it should be -- they regurgitating ESR infamous blog posts.
If anyone uses terms 'sjw' or 'meritocracy' a serious manner in a conversation or try to frame it in terms of inclusivity vs productivity, it's entirely appropriate to exclude and expose these people who they are.

Looked at /r/linux subreddit again, then looked at the histories of anyone I've argued with.
Yep. /r/linux has been brigaded. The Linux admitting things and the general state of affairs when it comes to inclusion is still bad, but there are a lot fewer Nazis in the midst of linux users.
That's why I left reddit in the first place -- the total unwillingness to of the company implement proper moderation controls and metaphorically punch nazis.

I get so unreasonably frustrated with people who claim that free software development is not political and shouldn't be political. It is fundamentally fucking political. It is digital anarcho-communism. If you're pissed off because "leftists" have influence in free software spaces, get the fuck out of here. The whole project is inherently leftist

@bgcarlisle This looks kind of like reverse Al Capone theory of sexual harassment.

@Gargron @staticsafe Read the docs is mostly rst with some custom tags. That thing that's good about rst that it's formally defined, unlike having every imaginable markdown flavor under the sun, but the learning curve is a bit steep.
This is a good intro -- https://thomas-cokelaer.info/tutorials/sphinx/rest_syntax.html
I also like OmniMarkupPrviewer when editing rst docs -- https://github.com/timonwong/OmniMarkupPreviewer
This is a very good tutorial, but it's almos 3hrs long :( -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM4I58TA72g

@LibertyPaulM In this collective freakout I've heard the word meritocracy invoked so many times, that it sounds like an occultist chant.

I'm envious, for both hardware, and that you have idea what to use the device.I just bought a standalone capture device for recording conference slides.
I really want to get this thing and start doing programming tutorials -- https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ezcap261M-HD60-Game-Live-USB-3-0-4K-1080P-Game-Capture-Streaming-Video-Converter-Support-4K/32909590459.html
Yet, until I write a few scripts about what specifically I'm going to do, I just can't justify it.

I finally found the article by Gary Bernhardt, where he takes one of Linus rants and turns it into an email full of useful feedback and no insults.

Now I'm going to leave this story at that.

Today meltdown on /r/linux got even more... melty.
Now there's a post going after Patricia Torvalds, Linus daughter. The post is conveniently locked, so no one can post any comments.
Reddit is such a trash fire, no wonder I left that place two years ago. Now I feel bad for reactivating my account just for mocking people there.
As frustrating as it is, but it feels that the gates have opened and there wouldn't be any worthwhile open source projects without Code of Conduct.

You enter linux subreddit.
It's pitch black.
You find yourself defending Bill Gates humanitarian efforts.
You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Since I log in reddit every other year now and don't really care about my account there... I may have trolled /r/Linux a bit.
I'm not sure how I feel about this -- In one hand trolling is bad, on the other hand making fun techbros freaking out about their fragile masculinity feels satisfying.
