Having been monitoring in parallel political discourse around Article 13 *and* the development of "Youtuber/social media influencer" culture of (mostly) younger Germans there seems to be a massive culture/generation gap within the country (maybe more so than UK?).
What is worse is some politicians who want to destroy the social media aren't old farts, they are younger than I am (but maybe did not take part in Gen X youth subcultures at all)

#Article13 adopted.
In #EU, money, corporate influence and censorship are valued more than freedom and the voice of the People. Fuck that shit! #CopyWrong

But the battle is not over yet. Here’s our breakdown on what happens next in Europe, and how important it will be to fight similar provisions when lobbyists push for them across the world. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/03/eus-parliament-signs-disastrous-internet-law-what-happens-next

Does the phrase "blanket licensing regime" make you salivate? If you are in the extortion business, it should!

@Wolf480pl @quad What are you talking about? Which layout have you been using all these years that has Scandinavian characters available conveniently enough while still being shell-friendly on a physical ANSI layout? In conversation from pleroma.soykaf.com permalink -

@quad Wow! So tired of flipping layouts, especially on an ANSI keyboard where writing <> is impossible on the Finnish layout because that physical key is missing.

The Swedish Social Democrats have three votes. Had they voted for, the amendments process would have been able to happen.
Grrrrrrr.

This is a very hot take and also not a new one but here we go: the goal of a properly functioning software engineer is to obviate themselves, not by solving the customer's specific problems but by blurring the line between using a computer and programming one to the point where users can solve their own problems.

@ben @sophia It's because the method is a secret.
Not because of any conspiracy or dark incentives. Nobody tries to keep it secret.
It's just that nobody believes it when they are told.
