    @_cr0_tab Ouch. I’m blunt when I interview: I have a family and I’m gone by 5. If they like that, awesome. If they don’t, I don’t want to work there anyway.

    I’m Johnny on the spot when stuff breaks at 2AM, and I did some work last night because I had a shower thought realization and I *had* to try something, but those are voluntary. My family is more important. I wish everyone felt the same so that employers would quit expecting otherwise.

    DevOps friend of mine bragging about how the big project he's taking on at his fortune 500 is sure to lead to a promotion and pay raise when they realize he's doing the work and taking the responsibility already.

    What I thought was "You poor stupid asshole. Your wife is pregnant and you're giving a corporation years you'll never get back. Stop loving things that don't love you back before you're divorced and dead at 40."

    What I said was, "That sounds exciting bro!"

    If you use Debian: you're got getting the recent Intel CPU bugfixes because Intel updated the firmware package's license to state that it's not redistributable.

    If use Linux other than Debian and have the bugfixes: ask your maintainers why they're distributing software they're not legally allowed to.

    And in any case: next time you purchase a CPU, evaluate whether AMD might be a better choice than Intel.

    My #mastodonadmins friends: I think the wave of spammers is going to get worse, and I think it goes a lot further than just spam. Basically, I think Russia is going to try to use us the same way they used Twitter and Facebook in the 2016 elections. We can't let that happen.
