@devilcrayon I'm actually not sure. They were here when we bought the house. There's at least three varieties on two trees. One is very green and only turns red in late September (at the earliest). One is yellowish and big, a bit sweeter but slightly mealy (makes a great cider by itself) and I'm uncertain if the remaining apples are one or two varieties. One is like the green apples but starts maturing in mid-August, and the others have a pinkish hue. But they might be the same.

@mattcropp Now that users can manage their own domain-level blocks and silences, I feel like we should revisit the processes by which new blocks and silences are created. A missing, but scriptable option, would be to add a default list of blocks and silences to all users and allow each to manage their own.

Where can I find a list of blocked and silenced instances, and a log of the decision-making processes that resulted in that status?
I stumbled across an impediment to interacting with somebody I legitimately wanted to, and I'd like to know how the process worked.

@lain speaking of federation, I'm not getting your mentions at my instance and had to view the thread on other instances to see it. Possibly odd behavior regarding the 'unlisted' visibility on pleroma? Or maybe there's an unfortunate well-meaning instance block from months ago?

@djsundog That seems maybe too early, but perhaps a KoFi badge on the repo wouldn't be a bad idea.

(That's not the project announcement, we're not there yet. And to be clear, we're not trying to get rich or even make a living on this, just trying to reduce the need for side hustles and increase our own motivations to spend more time working on it...)

Wonambi will be a feature-compatible Mastodon backend in Python/Django, aimed at scaling down as well as up. One deploy target is a free-tier VPS host to run a turn-key instance for a single user or small group.
Two of us have plodded away at it for a few weeks, and at this rate we'll have an MVP version in a month or so. But we're both unemployed ex-corp burnouts.
How far along should we be before making a bigger announcement and setting up a Patreon/KoFi/etc?

GET /api/v1/timelines/* returns Status objects, with the toot bodies contained in the 'content' field.
POST /api/v1/statuses takes 'status' as the toot body, and then returns the toot body as 'content'.
It's the little things.

TFW you are building to a spec that has an off-by-one error built into the definition itself.
max_id - Return results older than ID
That's not a max_id. That's a "before_id" which corresponds to the "since_id".
I'm going to end up forking a front-end eventually, I just know it.

The solution to #gerrymandering isn't better districts. It is abolishing districts.

@pixelpaperyarn This is my favorite blog post about being a Senior anything: https://www.kitchensoap.com/2012/10/25/on-being-a-senior-engineer/
Much of it is not tech-specific; it can apply to software but almost as well to other fields.
