What a bug... FaceTime lets you call another iOS user and listen to their microphone briefly without them even answering https://9to5mac.com/2019/01/28/facetime-bug-hear-audio/

Thanks for the heads-up. I thought kids were getting their therapy in person or on the phone? That's how I insist on getting it.

Think about how many times in a day on the Web you click “I agree” when you really don’t agree just so you can get on with your day and use an everyday thing.

This is not how consent is supposed to work.

I think the main problem with imojis is that I don't like or understand most of them. The descriptions are just a lot of extra verbosity. It's probably up to my screen reader to silence them. If you put too many imojis in your username, I may skip your entire message.

@bobjonkman and I exchanged a few text messages; discovered that the client only presents notification on new messages when application does not have focus. We didn't try a phone call. Where are the menus that offer options like file xfer, conferences, and screen sharing?

Does anyone here rely on screen readers or #braille or something? How does your tool recognise #hashtags? Is the usage of many tags rather annoying for you?

I use the Orca screen reader and GNUSocial. hashtags do not present any special problem; they are read as such, and are presented as links. Browser is the latest firefox. Orca has descriptions for common imojis; too many of these can slow down reading.

@bobjonkman @davehunt @bobjonkman I hope bridges are coming this year. I currently have bridges with Discord/IRC/mattermost and a SIP account so it's still compatible with a lot of things but just for me.

For accessibility, a blind person can use Jami (at least last time we had some feedback, I think the mail is still on the ML) (with the screen reader on via the hidden labels). But yeah I need to add more keystroke shortcuts... never had the time to do that.
