@ayy @nik Well, I'm fortunate that he has a preference for it too. But most people don't need it like I do, I think. It was a familiar space for me in times when I'm surrounded with the unfamiliar and change. I even needed it when I was up in scotland recently. To lose that would not be good for me. I also remember how I would cling to twitter more in those times in the past. Like when I went abroad for about a week.. I was very depressed and suicidal. It became my routine to sleep early rather than partying with the others, and get up very early so I could borrow wifi to get on twitter. I would go back to that space whenever I needed a break.

@eidolon0 GS doesn't support the feature so it won't even try to send it my way. I did get this sneaky feeling that I was missing out on so much... features are screwed up.
-
Right, time for me to get some sleep in. Goodnight fedi. Thanks for the conversations and for putting up with my complaints/anxiety. It is appreciated. Sweet dreams and take care!
-
@dielan @moonman @nik At this point, I would probably just make a carbon copy and then improve the features so they work without needing classic. Although I don't think pleroma has all those yet so it would be difficult in that sense.
-
@moonman @dielan @nik Only mad and desperate people like me take interest long enough now... but I don't have the knowledge and experience to understand and do anything with it. ;; Even then, I'd probably end up re-writing it once I knew how to do what I wanted from it.
-
@nik @dielan Now you see the problem I have. Getting anyone to want to work with that, especially when they know better programming languages or code better... good luck. :') I've been told only a madman would or something to that effect... but I am still interested in it. Learning how it works. Until something better comes along at least, and then I want to know how that works better.
-
@dielan @nik But to answer the question prior to this... pleroma BE does have support for different FEs. You can already use the mastodon FE with pleroma. I haven't seen something for qvitter yet though.
-
@dielan @nik Not sure how well it would work trying to port it in its current state. Would need to look at the code and perhaps re-write it.
-
@ayy @nik Yeah... I think it would need to be re-written which is what moonman started to work on. Just needs the time to keep at it which is difficult when time is taken with maintaining the instances and other important priorities with daily life.
-
@nik Also, when moonman brought the idea up to me I was very excited about the idea of having a qvitter-like FE to use with pleroma. But I have lots of mixed feelings now to work through on top of it.
-
@nik I didn't realise it prior but a lot of my desire for qvitter relates to my own health, perhaps old history relating to how I used to use twitter. It's hard to warm up to anything else, especially with confusing features added. But to answer your question, I'm practical... I understood that the GS BE wasn't workable and devs were moving to work with easier code. My main concern was always having a more complete qvitter with its features and it would be great to have the added improvements pleroma had for speed and space. If it made things easier for my admins, then I would have been game.
But the reaction that I've gotten has made me more reluctant when asking for this... it seemed like pleroma devs wanted to take things in a different direction. Which I would support for them. But it's not compatible for me. I've tried using it and I've just felt worse at times. I will own up that I don't always respond well which has likely contributed. I also complain a lot... but that is partly venting and partly that I feel like if I don't say anything then who will know and how will it get expressed? How will I understand my own feelings? Perhaps someone else feels the same and can understand what I don't?
But to sum it up... what you mentioned would have been ideal but I feel anxious about asking for it.
-
When I'm done with my backlog of books (Although who am I kidding? When am I ever done?), I think I will get to reading this book about programming I have. I hope to keep this interest running in my head... a bit like I still have writing in my head and other things.
-
@wowaname Yeah. Especially as this is the best place for me on fedi... most soothing. It has drawbacks but in a way, I feel like not being subjected to those features makes things less confusing for me. Less triggering when I'm already in a bad headspace, shall we say. I feel like I have to limit my exposure. It's weird for me to say this. It may be hard to believe it happens but I can't deny my reactions.

Today was productive but exhausting.
-
On another note, please don't think I am ignoring you since I don't get any indication that the post was sent to me unless someone else replies with a public post.
-
You can say whatever you want about me with a followers-only post, and even if I'm following you I won't get the post here since it isn't supported. ;;
-
Let me know if you saw a post of mine about three minutes ago.
-
I have something you can all help me with when I set it up if you are up for it. I'm curious to see how groups show.
-
@mangeurdenuage With followers-only posts within a followers-only thread which breaks the thread and basically makes it unreadable and one-sided.
-
@nerthos Following you now, but you may need to follow me back and then try.
