@distel I try to reduce flights; I get terribly seasick on boats and have immediate family in North America, so it's not always trivial. I haven't been there since 2014 and will probably have to fly to visit in 2020. I don't drive at all, though.
If you are in the UK and eligible to vote please make sure you are registered! If you know others who might not have registered (just moved house, just got old enough to vote etc) please remind them, and help them register if necessary.
Deadline is tomorrow for council elections, and 7th May for EU elections. And of course given the current political situation we might have a general election, too...
I worry that a second referendum wouldn't help matters. The first one was only "advisory" yet the government is treating it as something they must do at all costs, disingenuously treating election results (where no major party had a non-Brexit platform) as a "mandate".
I feel like something else is going on, and I fear what that might be and what it means.
I'm not an EU citizen so can't vote in EU elections but if you can, please do. Maybe good turnout in those could send a message to the UK government about wanting to stay.
@cassolotl No problem. :-) They have really helped me; my hands were getting worse and worse, and now they are getting stronger and stronger. There is some loss of manual dexterity, but that was worse at the beginning, I don't really notice it so much now; and for me it is much better than the constant hand pain I had!
@cassolotl Some of the American sites have decent pictures of the types of splint that are available for different issues. I looked at https://www.silverringsplint.com/ a lot.
I tried various splints made from wire, too. I found (and hand therapist said this is common) that these were uncomfortable -- they dig in a lot more than flat splints.
I have found the silver splints a lot more comfortable than the plastic.
@cassolotl I have splints from ringsplintsbyzomile.co.uk and one fancy thumb splint by We Design silver splints (but I needed a hand therapist prescription for that).
Before I had the silver splints, I used oval-8 plastic splints. Some NHS hand therapists will prescribe these and some won't (sigh). I used to buy them from http://www.3pointproducts.eu/ (cheaper than buying them singly).
Basically, I tried the plastic ones first, then upgraded.
Are we still careening toward a no-deal exit on 12th April or have we been given another extension because the dog ate Parliament's homework or whatever?
I don't want to leave, but I also struggle to keep track of what's happening without compromising my mental health.
