@srol As the child of a librarian, this is very true! :D
Libraries today are 25% kids, 25% people doing genealogy research, and 50% people applying for jobs.

@nolan Stopped doing it two years ago. It's been amazing.
I read the local news for my metro area, and that's it.
Anything outside of that area? That's what I have elected officials for. 😆 It's their job to worry about it.
@theoutrider He's kinda great at sitting, though.
@theoutrider Welcome to my world :p
I'm convinced people like us have some sort of useless superpower.
@Cryoclaire Didn't know this existed! I really like reading comics this way, turns out.
@CobaltVelvet @KitsuneAlicia Would it just be too slow? I run a Masto server on a VM with just 1GB or RAM and 1GB swap space, and it works. It's not a PI, though.
@Siphonay Oh no -- I mean it sounds like something someone would've said decades ago. If someone literally just said this, I have to assume they're either a time traveler from 1987, or they're 60+ years old.
@Siphonay This sounds like a comment from decades ago. Doesn't everybody use smartphones today?
Thank's admin
Should I upgrade to Mastodon v2.8.0?
[ ] Yes
[ ] No
@staticsafe Imagine seeing this thing when the James Webb Space Telescope gets launched. It'll be mind-blowing.
@polymerwitch I wonder what people mean by this. You could say this about charities like Habitat For Humanity, for goodness sakes.
TIL: you can install the new Edge (Chromium) without administrator rights on a Windows machine. Nice.
Basically, that means if you're in a Microsoft shop being forced to use IE/Edge, you can install this and perhaps get a little relief.
@lynnesbian Just checked Amazon, and though they limit downloading your music files to "10 authorized computers", they don't seem to limit how many times you can download your music. I agree bandcamp is still best
@lynnesbian I'm lucky I never bought anything from Google Play, music-wise. Had I bumped into that limitation I probably would've deleted my GMail account in anger (regretting it later, but eventually getting over it).
"(limited to 2 downloads per song per account)"
Wtf -- really?
@wxcafe @envgen @tom When this phone originally came out, I wanted it so bad. Seemed so "pockatable." But it was on AT&T and had locked-down Android, so didn't buy it.
Would honestly still love a phone that did this.
@srol Or when one is 30-something and you inevitably get some sort of long-term medical condition where "cut out caffiene" is the doctor's advice. :(
Me at 25: What's the point of decaf coffee?
Me at 35: God bless decaf coffee!
@nolan this is just... I don't know what to say. This is both amazing and horrifying at the same time (and this kind of "weaponizing" of IG is why I left.)
