@Zulgrib @natecull Human time is more valuable than computer time in most circumstances. Or at least, thats the way the incentives lean. :/

@robots It's not an error, sorry. I should have been ,more specific. I'm worried about overall architecture. :/

@robots That's in the check activityPermissions. update and delete share the same permission requirements, so yes, thats intended. :P
As for what I think's wrong with it, I have a bad feeling about the overall structure and code flow. Especially the flow from dealing with local activities into dealing with federated activities. :/

@robots The places where I don;t end with break should be either intentional, or after a return, which makes such unnecessary. :/

@Dekken That's basically the declaration for a local variable. at the top level it's basically the same as var, but if you do it in a block it'll disappear after the block. :/

@Dekken Oh, it's not an error, I just feel the code is badly written and architected and am being paralyzed by indecision on whats wrong and how to fix it. :/

Aaaaargh. I'm trying to program and I have no idea what I'm doing, besides everything wrong. Can anyone take a look at my recent code and tell me if they see anything obviously wrong? Probably architecturally? These two files are the ones that really bother me:

@Nerdcoresteve Thank you! I'm a little worried I'm in over my head with it, but I'm gnna be stubborn and see where I can get. :/

@Nerdcoresteve Oh nvm, there it is. Anyway thank you! I'd love to hear what you think of it. Does it load for you? Would you be interested in using it if it federated? :/

@Nerdcoresteve Nah it's fine. Huh, I think I lost a reply, or half a reply? Gimme a sec. :/

@Nerdcoresteve Eh, I would not be so sure. Like, thats been the political struggle for like, hundreds of years now, the origin of the left-right divide, and it's not really working. :/
My personal take right now is that what we really need to be collectively smarter and better coordinated. I'm actually working on a project for exactly that, as it happens: https://agora-2866.nodechef.com/forum
I hope to have it federating soon-ish. We'll see if it goes anywhere. :/

@Nerdcoresteve That's called 'wealth redistribution". Google it, you'll see a vast array of people in opposition. Again, political capital. :/

@Nerdcoresteve Haha, yeah, that might work. Good luck getting the political capital to implement /that/ solution though. :P

@Nerdcoresteve Because money and political capital are limited resources, especially when half of politics is "N͚͕͢O̧͎̫ ̘̾͞N̩͚ͤ̑E̬͡W͜ ̬͖̙ͦ̂ͭT̓Aͧ̐̿X̘̎̀E̺̎S̆" repeated ad nauseam. :/

@ChrisWere Well, the UBI does have the nice feature of allowing people to move out into the country where land is cheap if they so desire. That has a lot of potential. Not sure how well it'll work in practice, but we'll see. :/

And especially, the part where he talks about "1% with awesome robot empires", and man, if that happens 90% of us are screwed. You're made out of atoms that could be something else, and you use joules and negentropy that could do other things, and that automatically puts you in competition with those who want to have that something else and do those other things. And when those people have awesome robot empires, well... Good luck. :/

I also disagree with his "Basic income will solve rich vs poor" argument. It might solve "Poor vs middle class", and I guess thats a worthwhile improvement, but I'm not very confident it will manage even that, and it definitely won;t solve rich vs poor. Indeed, it will probably escalate it... :/

@woozle Eh, I generally agree, but how on earth do you implement that effectively? Do you use the government? If so, you first need to solve the problems of government, which is a herculean task in and of itself. :/
